Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Wishes Floating Window Thank You Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you’re hopping by from Terry Lynn’s blog or you’re starting here at my blog…thanks for coming! We have a fun sketch challenge for today’s hop and this is the card I created.

Here is the sketch challenge…

I created this pretty floating window card using the Thoughtful Wishes Bundle, Thoughtful Journey 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and the Thoughtful Designs 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper. The Thoughtful Journey and Thoughtful Designs papers are unbelievably beautiful! The floating window portion of this card was inspired by my friend and team leader, Mary Deatherage. Mary made a card a few weeks ago using strips of this beautiful paper and it made me think of the floating window technique.

I started off by adhering a panel of the Thoughtful Designs Specialty Designer Series Paper in Pretty Peacock to a Pretty Peacock base. Can you see the embossed florals on this paper? Beautiful! I then cut three 1″ strips from a meadow scene from the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper. These strips were adhered to a 3-1/8″ square of acetate and I left about 1/16″ between the strips. The acetate square was then adhered to a slightly larger Pretty Peacock mat using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Hence the term “floating” window. This was then adhered to the card front.

A single floral sprig cut from Basic White cardstock was added to the front of the acetate square. I used a Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend to color a length of Linen Thread. This thread was then tied into a single loose bow and the bow was adhered at the base of the floral sprig. The matted sentiment was then adhered over top of the Linen Thread bow using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside panel I second generation stamped the leaf image from the Thoughtful Wishes Stamp Set in Wild Wheat and Pretty Peacock. If you’re wondering how I chose the Wild Wheat color it is simple. This color shows up in the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper panel used on the card front! This panel was then adhered to the inside of the card.

The same leaf image was second generation stamped onto the envelope front in Wild Wheat and Pretty Peacock. A coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap and I trimmed the excess paper away from the flap using a pair of paper snips. Three Adhesive-Backed Pearls were added to the card front to finish up this project.

You will often see the floating window technique represented as a circle…but I needed to follow our sketch challenge, so I went with the square. This is a fun and easy technique for a different look! I hope you enjoyed my card for the Hop today and I want to thank you for stopping by. Let’s get back to the Hop, though! You can click on the “Next” button below to go to Nel’s blog, or click on any name in the list to go directly to that person’s blog. Enjoy!
