Stampin’ Up! Cottage Rose Whitewash Best Wishes Card – A CASE from the Annual Catalog!

I wasn’t sure what I was going to make for today’s card so I took a little stroll through the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalog and found this pretty card using the Cottage Rose Stamp Set and Cottage Flowers Dies! I used some of the pretty Vellum Basics 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper for the vellum strip and instead of a single die cut flower – I went with the double flower. So pretty and the whitewash technique is easy!

Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink I stamped the large rose and leaf image onto a Smoky Slate panel four times, making sure to turn the stamp each time. I used the light shade of an Old Olive Stampin’ Blend to color in all of the leaves and the light shade of a Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend to color in the tiny flowers. Next came the fun part! I used a Blender Pen to color in white pigment ink onto all areas of each flower petal where there were no stamped lines. Once the white ink dried, I reapplied some of the ink on the tips of the flowers as this ink dries much lighter.

I added a 1-1/4″ strip of the Vellum Basics 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper to the center of the card. Before adhering this strip down I determined the placement of my sentiment label first and only applied glue to the vellum where the sentiment label would hide the adhesive. Glue shows through vellum! I added very small pin drops of glue on the right and left side of the vellum to secure the edges. The panel was then adhered to the card front.

From white cardstock, I die cut the double, open flower image using the Cottage Flowers Dies. After trimming the stems of the flowers, I adhered them to the center of the card, then adhered the sentiment label using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bottom edge of the sentiment label was positioned slightly below the bottom edge of the vellum strip.

On the inside panel the large rose and leaf image was partially stamped onto the lower left using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then adhered the panel to a Smoky Slate mat and this unit was adhered to the inside of the card.

The same large rose and leaf image was stamped onto the envelope front and the smaller rose image from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set was used to stamp onto the envelope flap.
