Stampin’ Up! Sentimental Park Congratulations Card

Happy Friday! I created this card using the Sentimental Park Bundle (stamps and dies) and the pretty Regency Park 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This card was created for a special friend who will be retiring in a few short months! Yay for being retired!

I started off by adhering a panel of the Regency Park Designer Series Paper in a bold flower print to a card base of Balmy Blue. I used a second piece of paper from the Regency Park DSP pack to create a banner on the card front – this paper is in coordinating Mango Melody.

Using the dies from the Sentimental Park Dies set, I cut out a number of small flowers – both solid images and outline images -in white, Balmy Blue and Mango Melody. I stacked some of the flowers and adhered the pieces together. Some of the smaller flowers stand by themselves.

The Sentimental Park Dies set has several sentiment labels that you can use. I cut out the large, ornate sentiment label in Basic White cardstock and layered a second sentiment label in white on top of the larger label. The cool thing about the large, ornate label is that the die cuts open slots on the right and left side so that the smaller sentiment label can be slipped into these slots. This creates a pretty layered look! The sentiment was stamped in Mango Melody ink onto the smaller label and the two labels were adhered together.

Before adhering the sentiment label to the card front, I adhered several of the flowers around the right and left sides of the ornate label. I then adhered the sentiment label to the card front, and over top of the banner, using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Several of the remaining die cut flowers were tucked under and around the sentiment label.

I used a length of Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon and folded the ribbon in half, securing the pieces together with a Mini Glue Dot. I applied a second Mini Glue Dot to the back of the ribbon and tucked the ribbon under the sentiment label and allowed the ribbon ends to hang down. So pretty!

For the inside panel, I stamped an additional sentiment from the Sentimental Park Stamp Set in Mango Melody ink and used the two-step flower stamps from the same set to stamp flowers along the bottom of the panel. This panel was then adhered to a mat in Mango Melody and this unit was then adhered to the inside of the card.

The same two-step flower stamps were used to stamp onto the lower left of the envelope front in Mango Melody ink. I added a piece of coordinating designer series paper to the envelope flap and trimmed away the excess paper from the flap. To finish off the card, I added several Adhesive-backed Milky Dots in blue to several of the flower centers on the card front.

You can purchase the Sentimental Park Bundle from the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog and if you make the purchase during Sale-a-bration you can earn a Level 1 free item from the Sale-a-bration catalog! That’s a win-win. The Sentimental Park Stamp Set contains a ton of images and sentiments. The sentiments in this stamp set alone will cover thank you cards, thinking of you cards, celebrations, new baby, birthdays, graduations and anniversaries! That’s a lot of coverage from just one stamp set! The Sentimental Park Dies include three different sentiment labels and a ton of flower dies and several stem and leaf dies! And if you purchase the bundle – stamps and dies together – you save 10% and earn a free Sale-A-Bration item! This is a great deal!

Stampin’ Up! Adorable Owls Birthday or Celebration Card

I used the Adorable Owls Stamp Set and the Garden Birdhouses Stamp Set along with some ink blending to create this fun birthday or celebration card. The owl on this card is flying in front of the moon! How fun!

I started with a white panel measuring 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ and cut a second panel measuring the same. On one of the panels, I die cut a circle towards the upper right of the panel using the second to largest circle die from the Layering Circles Dies set. I used the negative of this die cut and layered it on top of the white panel and secured two of the sides with Post It tape. I then used a blending brush and blended Daffodil Delight ink over the circle cut out. The top mask was removed, and I then temporarily adhered the die cut circle over the area I had just ink blended and used a separate blending brush to blend Orchid Oasis ink over the remaining portion of the panel. This creates a moon in the night sky! Using the same blending brush I used to blend Orchid Oasis ink with, I lightly blended some of the residue ink over the moon area just to give it some dimension.

Using the Garden Birdhouses Stamp Set, I stamped the tree limb in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto the ink blended panel so that the tree limb overlaps the moon slightly. The panel was matted to a piece of black cardstock then adhered to the card base in Daffodil Delight.

The flying owl from the Adorable Owls Stamp Set was stamped onto a scrap piece of white cardstock and I used Stampin’ Blends in Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green to color in the owl. I then fussy cut the owl. I adhered the owl to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and positioned the owl just above the tree branch and partially over the moon.

A sentiment from the Adorable Owls Stamp Set was stamped onto a scrap piece of white cardstock and I used the second to smallest circle die from the Layering Circles Dies set to cut out the sentiment. The sentiment was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was positioned on the lower right of the card. I added a small Black & White Gingham Ribbon bow just above the sentiment label and a few Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots were added around the moon (our night sky needed stars after all!).

On the inside panel and envelope front, the tree branch was stamped using Memento ink as was the flying owl. I used Stampin’ Blends to color in the tree branch and owl. The inside panel was adhered to a black mat then adhered to the inside of the card.

The flying owl was stamped onto the envelope flap and colored in using Stampin’ Blends to complete the card!

This card would make a great birthday or celebration card for adults and children! So cute! You can download, save and print a pdf tutorial for this card by clicking on the image below.

Stampin’ Up! Bottled Happiness Congratulations Card

I do LOVE Fall colors and this card has a few along with a lot of visual interest! I used the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set, Fabulous Frames Dies, Brushed Metallic Cardstock and the 2021-2023 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to create this card.

I started off with a piece of the In Color DSP in a Pale Papaya plaid and adhered this to a Cajun Craze mat. I then cut two strips of the darker shade of Brushed Metallic Cardstock and adhered these strips to either side of this unit. I then adhered the unit to the front of a Pale Papaya card base.

I used the two step flower image stamps from the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set to stamp onto a die cut frame from the Fabulous Frames Dies in Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze ink. I then used a scrap piece of white cardstock to adhere the frame and its stamped insert together. The frame was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Two Textural Elements were colored using the dark shade of a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend. These were then adhered to the frame, just below the stamped flowers.

An additional frame from the Fabulous Frames Dies set was die cut – this time the smaller oval frame – and I used the insert on this frame as my sentiment label. I stamped the sentiment in Cajun Craze ink and adhered the sentiment label to the card front, just below the flower frame.

A double bow from linen thread was added between the stamped flowers and the sentiment label and a Brushed Metallic Dot was added to the top of the stamped frame.

An additional sentiment was stamped on the inside panel along with the single sprig image from the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set and this image was stamped in both Pale Papaya and Cajun Craze. This same image was stamped on the lower corner of the envelope front. I added a piece of coordinating DSP to the envelope flap and cut around the flap to finish off the envelope.

This card would be suitable for both male and female and would also make a great Fall birthday card, anniversary card, friendship card or Thanksgiving card!

Stampin’ Up Celebrate Sunflowers Card

This sunflower in shades of yellow and orange is so cheerful! I used the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set and Sunflowers Dies to create this card and I’ll be giving this to a friend who will be retiring in a few months.

The card base sits on Mango Melody cardstock and I used the Hive 3D Embossing Folder to emboss a panel in Pumpkin Pie. The sunflower was die cut from the Sunflowers Dies using Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry cardstocks. I added a few leaves, looped some linen thread under the sunflower image and added some Rustic Metallic Dots and this completes the card. I stamped the smaller image of the sunflower on the inside of the card panel and added an additional sentiment. The envelope was finished off with a piece of paper from the Tea Boutique DSP in a Crushed Curry cross hatch pattern on the envelope flap, which coordinates nicely.

Uniquely Artistic Congratulations Card – All Squared Up

So what happens if you paint a watercolor panel and you’re not happy with how some of it looks? Easy! You die cut the portion that you like and make it into a card! Like yesterday’s card, I used the wet-in-wet watercolor technique to drop in three of the new In Colors onto a piece of watercolor paper. I figured since I had everything out I might as well paint two panels instead of just one!

Dropping color onto a very wet watercolor panel creates some interesting results. I made some very basic shapes on the panel and allowed the watercolor paper to dry. I then created a few masks for the flower image from the Uniquely Artistic stamp set using PostIt Notes then cut out the flowers. I laid the fussy cut flowers onto the areas of Sweet Sorbet on the watercolor panel, then stamped the large open-leaf image from the stamp set in Parakeet Party ink over the painted area of Parakeet Party on the watercolor panel. I removed the masks for the flowers, then stamped the flowers over the Sweet Sorbet areas on the watercolor panel in Sweet Sorbet ink. The image was die cut using the Stylish Shapes Dies and matted with black and white. The sentiment label was also die cut using Stylish Shapes Dies and matted with black.

I used a Sweet Sorbet card base, a white mat, and a piece of paper from the 2022-2024 In Color DSP pack. The matted watercolor square and sentiment were staggered on the card front, and I completed the card with a double twine bow. The contrast between the bright In Colors and the black mats makes a striking statement.

You can view, download and print the project sheet for this card by clicking on the image below.

I’m calling this card “Songbirds in the Wild” because of the wild background! As mentioned earlier in the week, I tried two different techniques on vellum – an ink blending technique, and on today’s card a rubbing alcohol technique. What do you think?

I used all five of the new 2022-2024 In Colors on this vellum background to highlight these colors, so the result is a very intense looking background. When debating how to design around this background, the only answer was to use the Sweet Songbirds bundle to tame the wild! I rather like all of the bright, cheerful colors.

The vellum background has somewhat of a bokeh effect and was created by using Stampin’ Blend markers (which are alcohol markers) to scribble color onto the vellum surface. Using a small watercolor brush, drops of rubbing alcohol were dripped onto the surface to create the blending and spreading of colors. I’m looking forward to trying this technique out again in more muted colors. I’m thinking you can get some really lovely results!

Have a wonderful day – bee happy!

The Westies…Mom’s Little Helpers

I had a request to share photos of our two Westies – Maezie and Mackenzie. These are for you, Faith!

Maezie is our youngest Westie and quite mischievous! Mackenzie is a little on the shy side. Both are very loveable and rule the household!

Here’s Maezie…look at that face!

And here’s the two of them…Mom’s little helpers! Mackenzie is on the left and Maezie is on the right. What characters!

Another Sneak Peek – Sweet Songbirds / Last Chance and Retiring Products Sale Going on Now! / May Paper Pumpkin Surprise

Sweet songbirds card project

Here is another sneak peek from the new Annual Catalog – the Sweet Songbirds Bundle which includes the Sweet Songbirds stamp set and Songbirds Builder Punch. How cute is this little bird! I had so much fun playing with this bundle and already have another card idea using this set…I can’t wait to show you. By sharing these sneak peeks, I hope to inspire you to purchase some of the new items from the upcoming catalog. I promise you won’t be disappointed and if you’re like me…you’ll want it all.

Today’s card sits on a Sweet Sorbet card base – one of our new In Colors…and it’s gorgeous! I stamped the branches, leaves and flowers on a white panel, punched the cute little bird using Sweet Sorbet, white and Daffodil Delight cardstock, then used Stampin’ Blends to enhance the shading on the stamped images. The sentiment label on the card uses the wood plank stamp and a greeting from the stamp set and is hanging from a tree branch! I used a sponge dauber to ink in some sky in Balmy Blue and I wasn’t worried about getting the ink completely smooth. This card is meant to be playful so have fun with it!

The new catalog launches on May 3 for customer orders. I’ll be sharing some additional projects using new items from the catalog over the next several weeks so be sure to check back often. You won’t be disappointed. The new catalog is packed with some amazing new items!

Sunflower Congratulations Card / May Paper Pumpkin Surprise!

Sunflower congratulations card

How cheerful is this sunflower set against a blue sky? This is one of my favorite color combinations – yellow and navy!

This card was easy to make and involves stamping, masking and coloring…easy, easy! I partially stamped the image of the sunflower onto a 3″ x 3″ Post It Note and fussy cut around this partial image. The sunflower mask was used to cover the stamped sunflower images so that leaves could be stamped to give the appearance that the leaves are sitting partially under the sunflowers. Super easy technique that provides great results!

Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends were used to color in a sky around the sunflowers. The edges of the Balmy Blue were purposefully left jagged to provide a more artistic-style frame. The light shade of blue nicely sets off the sunflowers. The card sits on a Daffodil Delight card base with a Night of Navy mat. Black twine and brass butterflies adorn the card front. While I used a congratulations greeting on this card, it would also make a great birthday or thinking of you card!

Pretty Soaring Swallows Card / Last Day to Purchase the Mini Cut & Emboss Machine and Select Compatible Bundles

Pretty soaring swallows card

For anyone that knows me, I love swirly designs and delicate flowers. So, no surprise on this card design.

This card sits on a Petal Pink card base. I used the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder (this embossing folder will be retiring soon so grab it if you want it…link included at bottom of post) to emboss a white panel and then blended Petal Pink across the embossed panel. A large circle was die cut from the Layering Circles dies. I then used the cloud stamp from the Soaring Swallows stamp set and 3rd generation stamped Balmy Blue for the clouds and then blended some Petal Pink into the clouds and around the edges of the circle.

The flower image towards the top left of the card was die cut from the Swallows dies in Petal Pink and adhered to the embossed panel.

A sentiment from the Soaring Swallows stamp set was stamped in Smokey Slate ink at the bottom of the circle. I stamped the swallow image in Smokey Slate and colored the image using Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends then die cut. Ribbon and a bow adorn the center of the circle. The swallow was adhered to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals and I also used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the circle to the embossed panel. The embossed panel was then glued to the card base.

A white card panel was used for the inside of the card with 3rd generation stamping of clouds across the top of the panel. The envelope was finished with an image of clouds and a swallow as well on both the front of the envelope and the envelope flap. This completes today’s card.

I love the look of the Petal Pink and white with a splash of Balmy Blue to add interest. This card would be suitable as a congratulations card for a female or as a wedding congratulations.
