Stampin’ Up! Best Witches Halloween Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop! Our theme this month is “Halloween Fun”. We can interpret this theme any way that we want. Our Krew has lots of talented team members participating this month so be sure to check out their Hop posts! You can find navigation links further down on this page.

I really miss when my sons were younger! They would get so excited to get dressed up in their costumes for Halloween and they were so cute! For our hop today I used the Best Witches Stamp Set (love the play on words!), the Layering Circles Dies, the Basic Borders Dies, and the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.

I started off by stamping the witch and frog in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The sentiment was stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink. The image of the witch was colored in using Stampin’ Blends in Petal Pink, Crumb Cake, Smokey Slate, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather, and Parakeet Party. Our witch is a redhead, and I even gave her a little eye shadow and eyelashes! She’s striking a pose after all! The cute little frog was colored in using Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends. I love the look on the frog’s face…comical!

The witch was cut out using a circle die from the Layering Circles Dies. The frog was fussy cut, and I used my paper trimmer to trim the sentiment to approximately 2-3/8″ x 1″.

While I had my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine out, I used the zigzag die from the Basic Borders Dies to die cut the edge of a Soft Suede panel measuring approximately 4-1/4″ x 4″. Once this panel was die cut, I ran the panel through my machine again using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. This panel was then adhered to a Parakeet Party card base towards the top of the card, and I left a 1/8″ reveal on the top, left and right.

The stamped circle of the witch was centered over the embossed panel on the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The frog was adhered to the lower right of the circle.

The sentiment label was adhered to a Gorgeous Grape mat, then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment label was placed below the circle panel and overlaps the edge of the embossed panel.

I wrapped a length of Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon around the card base vertically and tied a knot. I then used two additional lengths of ribbon to tie a double bow then tied the bow to the single length of ribbon. The dark shade of a Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blend was used to color in 5 Rhinestone Basic Jewels, then the rhinestones were adhered to the card front. One was placed on the sentiment label and the other 4 jewels circle the witch’s head.

An additional sentiment was stamped on the inside panel . The frog was stamped in the lower right corner of this panel and colored in using Stampin’ Blends. Stars in Daffodil Delight were stamped around the frogs head. The frog also decorates the front of the envelope and stars were stamped across the envelope flap.

This completes my card for today. I had so much fun playing with this stamp set. The images are adorable!

Stampin’ Up! Scary Cute Pop-Up Halloween Card

The Scary Cute Stamp Set and Scary Silhouettes Dies were used to create today’s card. I made a pop-up card several weeks ago and chose to use the same fun fold on this card. What’s better than having scary images pop-up at you than in a Halloween card!

I started with a Gray Granite card base. I used a piece of the Black & White Designs 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper in a zig-zag pattern and colored the white areas in Stampin’ Blends in Pumpkin Pie and Highland Heather. I could have left the paper black and white, but I wanted a pop of color. This panel was adhered to the card front.

Using the Scary Silhouettes Dies I die cut a frame with branches from Basic Black cardstock, then cut a solid panel using just the rectangular die. These pieces became the sentiment label. The sentiment “Halloween Happiness” was stamped on the Gorgeous Grape die cut rectangle in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The rectangle and its frame were glued together and adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, I created the backdrop panel and used Daffodil Delight, Blushing Bride, Gorgeous Grape and Starry Sky inks and blended an evening sky onto the white panel using blending brushes. This panel was glued to the backside of the card front (when the card is open, this would be the top card base panel).

Two strips of white cardstock were blended with Daffodil Delight and were then glued onto the top and front of the pop-up mechansim. I could have used Daffodil Delight cardstock for this but I wanted the yellow to appear seamless with the yellow sky of the large backdrop panel.

The haunted house, bats and cat were all die cut in Basic Black cardstock using the Scary Silhouettes Dies. I also die cut a branch and some greenery from the Harvest Dies in black cardstock. The branch becomes a tree and the greenery becomes a bush!

The yellow strips were glued to the top and front of the pop-up mechanism and the pop-up mechanism was glued into place at the 5-1/2″ score line and adhered to both inside panels of the card base. The haunted house, tree, bats and moon were all adhered to the large ink blended panel. The cat and shrub pieces were adhered to the front of the pop-up mechanism. I cut a thin strip of black cardstock to the width of the card and with a pair of snips, cut a hill and adhered this to the front of the pop-up mechanism as well.

A sentiment for the inside of the card was stamped onto a white panel, along with several bats, then matted to a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock then adhered to the inside of the card.

To finish off the card, a large loopy bow was tied using the Black & White Gingham Ribbon and adhered to the card front, just under the sentiment label. I also used several purple Glossy Dots on the card front. The envelope front was decorated with bats stamped in Memento ink and the envelope flap was decorated with a coordinating piece of DSP.

This is such a fun set to play with! If you have young children or grandchildren, they would love to receive and display this card! I hope you give it a try!

Stampin’ Up! Best Witches Happy Halloween Card

Did this adorable little witch put a spell on the frog, or was the frog a person and she turned him into a frog? I’ll let you decide!

The Best Witches Stamp Set and Black & White Designs 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper were used to create this card. I did use the tree stump stamp from the Happier Than Happy Stamp Set…just because the little frog needed something to sit on!

This card is fairly straight forward. A little coloring, matting and adhering and done! I started off with a card base in Gorgeous Grape, then I adhered a piece of the Black & White Designs DSP to the card front.

All of the images were stamped onto a white panel and colored using a variety of Stampin’ Blends markers and Wink of Stella, of course! The Wink of Stella provides just the right amount of magic for our little witch! If you don’t have a large supply of Stampin’ Blends on hand, use what you have. Markers or watercolor pencils would work great, too! A piece of Washi tape was used to mask off the ground before coloring just so that I could create a straight horizon.

The colored panel was matted to a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock then this unit was adhered to the card front.

The images of the frog, tree stump and stars were repeated on the envelope front as well as the inside panel. The envelope flap was finished off with a coordinating piece of DSP.

How absolutely adorable is this little witch and frog! I had such a blast creating this card and I’m sure you will too! You can find the Best Witches Stamp Set in the current Mini Catalog.
