Welcome back to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog or you are starting with my blog…welcome and thanks for stopping by! I know we will see some great inspiration today from the other blogs so be sure to use the links at the bottom of this post to hop around!
We have a Theme Challenge for today’s Hop, and this is the card I created using the Cake Fancy Stamp Set. I love simple stamping to create pretty cards and this stamp set is perfect with its sweet little flowers.

Here is the challenge…

I started off with a Peach Pie card base and I used one of the small flower images from the Cake Fancy Stamp Set to stamp all around the edges of the card base front in Peach Pie ink to create a tone-on-tone look. I also used one of the leaf images to fill in around the stamped flowers.
On a white piece of cardstock measuring approximately 5″ x 3-3/4″ I began building the cake by first stamping the cake stand in Pecan Pie ink. I then used the cake layer image and stamped three layers of cake on top of the cake stand in Lemon Lolly ink. I left a little space between the layers. Next, I stamped flowers on top of the cake in Peach Pie and Melon Mambo inks. The flower centers were stamped in Pecan Pie ink. I used several of the leaf images to stamp around the flowers in Shy Shamrock ink.

Using a little Lemon Lolly ink stamped onto an acrylic stamping block, I dipped my Wink of Stella pen into the ink and dusted the three cake layers to darken these areas a bit and to give them some sparkle. A Blender Pen was used to scribble around the cake stand using Basic Beige ink. This helps to “ground” the cake stand so it doesn’t look like it is floating. A clean Blender Pen was used to create confetti around the flowers and under the cake stand by dotting Shy Shamrock ink. From the Deckled Rectangles Dies I used the second from largest die to cut out the image. The rectangle was adhered to a Melon Mambo mat, then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “Time for Cake” sentiment was stamped onto a white sentiment label, and this was adhered to the right of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On the inside panel I used two of the sentiments – “Enjoy” and “your special day” and these were stamped in Shy Shamrock ink. Several flowers were stamped onto the lower corner of the panel in Peach Pie and Melon Mambo. The flower centers were stamped in Pecan Pie, and I stamped several leaves around the flowers in Shy Shamrock. The panel was adhered to a Melon Mambo mat, then adhered to the inside of the card.

I repeated stamping of the flowers and leaves on the envelope front sticking with the same color scheme. A single flower was stamped onto the envelope flap and leaves were stamped on either side of the flower. I small bow tied from Silver & White Sheer Ribbon was adhered to the upper left of the card front using a Mini Glue Dot. Three Melon Mambo Glossy Dots were added to the card front to finish up the project.

Who doesn’t love cake? What is your favorite kind of cake? Mine is Devil’s Food cake with buttercream frosting! Yum! If you would like to recreate this card (and make your own cake…) you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below.

Beautiful card, Carol! Don’t ever let anyone tell you that our lives do not revolve around food! From fruit to nuts, to burgers, to cake…a necessity, but also fun, and part of our social lives! Guess I’ll go have a piece of leftover cake now.
