Stampin’ Up! Merriest Trees Christmas Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday and you know what that means! Time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are stopping off at my blog first, or if you are hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog, welcome, and thanks for stopping by!

My card for today’s Hop was created using the Merriest Trees Bundle and the Bright & Beautiful 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. The fun striped designer series paper print in Pretty Peacock make for some great Christmas trees and the Lemon Lime Twist background brightens this card up and gives it a more modern vibe!

We have a color challenge for today’s Hop. I used four of the five colors on my card – Lemon Lime Twist, Pretty Peacock, Blueberry Bushel and Bubble Bath.

I used a plain Lemon Lime Twist panel of Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper to stamp the detailed image of the large tree from the Merriest Trees Stamp Set in Lemon Lime Twist ink across the panel, varying the height of the stamped trees. The panel was adhered to a mat in Bubble Bath, then adhered to the front of a card base in Blueberry Bushel.

Using a second piece of the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper in a Pretty Peacock striped print, I cut out a large, medium and small tree using the Merriest Trees Dies. The “We wish you a Merry Christmas” sentiment was stamped onto the medium tree using VersaMark ink. I sprinkled white embossing powder over the sentiment and used my Heat Tool to set the embossing powder. A second medium sized tree was die cut from Pretty Peacock cardstock and the tree with the sentiment was adhered to the cardstock tree and slightly offset to provide a drop shadow.

From scraps of Blueberry Bushel, Bubble Bath and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock scraps I used the garland die to cut out pieces in each color. The garland was adhered to the trees, and I alternated the colors. On the tree with the sentiment a garland piece was only added towards the top and bottom of the tree. The large, decorated tree was adhered to the left side of the card front and the small tree was adhered to the right side of the card front. The tree with the sentiment was adhered towards the center (actually just right of center) using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Three stars were die cut from scraps of Basic White cardstock and adhered to the tops of the trees. The small snowflake image from the Merriest Trees Stamp Set was used to stamp snowflakes around the tops of the trees using Blueberry Bushel ink.

On the inside panel, the fill tree stamp was partially stamped in Lemon Lime Twist onto the lower left corner. I then used the detailed tree stamp and stamped over the tree again using Pretty Peacock ink. Snowflakes were stamped around the top of the tree using Blueberry Bushel ink. An additional sentiment was added towards the top right of the panel and stamped in Pretty Peacock ink. The panel was adhered to a mat in Bubble Bath, then adhered to the inside of the card.

The tree was also partially stamped onto the envelope front using the same colors as the inside panel. Snowflakes were first and second-generation stamped all around the tree in Blueberry Bushel ink. A coordinating piece of Lemon Lime Twist designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap and the excess paper was trimmed away from the flap. Several Pretty Peacock sequins were added to the card front to finish up the card.

The Merriest Trees Bundle holds so many possibilities! Think about embossing the tree in white, silver or gold, and then watercoloring the center of the tree. Remember the plastic trees from the 1970’s (I’m dating myself…)? How about creating a pink Christmas tree and decorating the tree in various shades of pink. FYI…there are ornament stamps and dies in the Merriest Trees Bundle so lots of options! This is the second time I have used this bundle to create a card for you and I’m guessing it won’t be the last! This set is so much fun!
