I have a quick and simple card for you today using the Dainty Delight Stamp Set and a fun and easy watercolor background technique! This stamp set contains beautiful wildflower images and has become one of my favorites! This stamp set will be retiring at the end of April so if this is something you’d like to add to your crafting supplies grab it soon!
Working on a protected work surface, I used a size F Stamp Block and inked the block up with Pool Party ink. I then used a Stampin’ Spritzer to lightly mist the surface of the inked block. I then carefully picked up the block and placed it onto a Basic White cardstock panel measuring about 5-1/5″ x 4-1/4″. I allowed the block to sit for a few seconds in order to allow the ink to soak in. The panel was allowed to completely dry. This watercolor technique provides a lot of interest, and no two panels turn out the same…fun!

The largest floral image from the Dainty Delight Stamp Set was stamped onto the watercolored panel using Night of Navy ink. I then used the second from largest die from the Deckled Rectangles Dies to cut out the watercolored and stamped panel. While die cutting, I also die cut an additional white panel, plus two Night of Navy panels using the largest Deckled Rectangle Die. The watercolored and stamped panel was adhered to one of the Night of Navy die cut panels.

A length of Pool Party Grosgrain Ribbon was wrapped around the lower portion of the matted panel and the ends were secured to the back of the panel using Stampin’ Seal. The panel was then adhered to the front of a Pool Party card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I second length of ribbon was used to tie a bow and the bow was adhered over the wrapped ribbon using a Mini Glue Dot.
On the second die cut white panel, I partially stamped the image of the Queen Anne’s Lace two times in Pool Party ink, then stamped the same image again in Night of Navy ink. The panel was adhered to the remaining die cut Night of Navy mat, then adhered to the inside of the card.

The same Queen Anne’s Lace image was stamped onto the envelope front and envelope flap in Pool Party and Night of Navy inks. To finish up the card, three Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels were added to the card front. The Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels and Pool Party Grosgrain Ribbon used on this project will also be retiring at the end of April!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and that you’ll give this easy watercolor background technique a try! If you would like to recreate this card you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below.
