Are you familiar with what photographers call the “magic hour”? This is the time at sunrise and sunset that the light is soft and diffused giving a soft and dreamy look. This is what I had in mind when creating today’s card…a soft, pretty look to this forest scene. I used the Delicate Forest Bundle (stamps and dies) and the Flight & Airy 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper for my card today. Read on for the details…
I started with a bird and flower print from the Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper measuring 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″. When cutting this panel, I made sure that the bird on a branch would be visible through the die cut forest frame. I used a Blending Brush to blend Fresh Freesia ink (one of the paper colors) all around the bird, leaving the bird free of ink blending. I used the forest frame die from the Delicate Forest Dies to cut out a frame from Garden Green cardstock. This frame was then adhered to the front of the ink blended piece of designer series paper. This was then adhered to the front of a Fresh Freesia card base.

Using the Delicate Forest Dies, I die cut leaf sprigs from Soft Sea Foam, Fresh Freesia, and Garden Green cardstock. These leaf sprigs were adhered just under the left inside of the forest frame. The sentiment, from the Delicate Forest Stamp set, was stamped in Garden Green ink onto a scrap piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock. I used the slender sentiment label die from the Delicate Forest Dies to cut out the sentiment. The sentiment was adhered to the lower right of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A Linen Thread bow was adhered just to the left of the sentiment label using a Mini Glue Dot. From the same designer series paper pattern, I fussy cut three of the pinkish flowers. These are easy flowers to fussy cut! Two of the fussy cut flowers were adhered to the card front over the bow using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The third flower was adhered to the upper right corner of the forest frame using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Using the large flora stamp from the Delicate Forest Stamp Set, I stamped this full image onto the lower edge of the inside panel in Soft Sea Foam ink. I reinked this image with Fresh Freesia ink, then stamped over the Soft Sea Foam stamped image – making sure to drop the Fresh Freesia image down slightly. I stamped this same image again in Garden Green ink, and only stamped the very top of the image over the Fresh Freesia stamped image to create a cascading effect. The light to dark images creates lots of depth on this panel! The panel was then adhered to the inside of the card.

I stamped the same cascading flora image onto the envelope front using Soft Sea Foam, Fresh Freesia and Garden Green inks. A coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap and I used a pair of paper snips to trim the excess paper away from the flap. Lastly, I adhered three Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels to the card front to complete the project.

I was very pleased with how this card turned out and I hope you enjoyed it, too! You can download, save and print the pdf tutorial for this project by clicking on the link below. Happy crafting and have a great day!
