Stampin’ Up! Sunny Days Encouragement Easel Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday and time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. I’m happy that you stopped by…welcome! I know we will see lots of inspiration today so be sure to use the navigation links below to check out the other blogs participating in the Hop today!

We have a sketch challenge for today’s Hop…

I created this fun easel card using the Sunny Days 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and the Bright Skies Bundle. I also borrowed an additional sentiment from the Hot Air Balloon Stamp Set. The Sunny Days 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper pairs beautifully with the Bright Skies Bundle and is a Sale-A-Bration item, which means you can earn this designer series paper for free during Sale-A-Bration with a purchase of $50!

To create the card base for this easel card, I cut a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock to 11″ x 4-1/4″, then scored along the long edge at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″. A rain and cloud print from the Sunny Days Designer Series Paper was adhered to a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ mat in Shaded Spruce and this was then adhered to the card front. It is important to note that adhesive was only applied between the bottom edge of the card and the 2-3/4″ score line. This allows movement on the card front to form the easel portion of the card.

On a 3″ x 3″ piece of white cardstock, I stamped the rain image from the Bright Skies Stamp Set in Pool Party ink towards the bottom center of the square. The square was then adhered to a Shaded Spruce mat and then this unit was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The “Brighter Skies are on their way” sentiment was stamped in Crushed Curry ink onto the sentiment label then adhered to a Shaded Spruce mat. The sentiment label was adhered to the 3″ square using a combination of liquid glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals and was positioned towards the left of the square. The small cloud image from the Bright Skies Stamp Set was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a scrap piece of cardstock. I then used the coordinating die from the Bright Skies Dies set to cut out the cloud. The cloud was then adhered to the 3″ square using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was positioned just above the sentiment label.

A diagonal Pool Party print panel from the Sunny Days Designer Series Paper was adhered to the inside of the card base. Using images from the Bright Skies Stamp Set, I stamped the small cloud image two times in Pool Party ink across the top of a 3″ white square, then partially stamped the sun image in Crushed Curry ink in the top corner of the square. The square was matted to a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock, then adhered to the inside of the card. A second sentiment from the Hot Air Balloon Stamp Set was stamped onto a sentiment label in Crushed Curry and matted to a piece of Shaded Spruce. This second sentiment label was adhered towards the bottom center of the inside of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals and becomes the “stop” for the easel portion of the card.

I stamped the same small cloud image onto the envelope front using Pool Party ink and then I partially stamped the sun image just above the cloud in Crushed Curry ink. A coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap and I trimmed the excess paper away from the flap using a pair of paper snips. Several Pool Party Opaque Faceted Gems were adhered to the card front to finish up the project.

I hope you enjoyed my card project for today and I want to thank you for stopping by my blog. If you would like to recreate this card you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below.
