It is Thursday and time again for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! I wonder what is in store for today? Whatever projects are created by the Hop participant’s I’m sure they will be wonderful! Be sure to use the links at the bottom of this post to hop around and check them out!
I was inspired by my team member, Tara Beth, to create a Double Easel Fun Fold. With all of the real estate on a double easel card, I chose to create my card around the gorgeous Winter Meadow 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper with an assist from the Magical Meadow Bundle, Stylish Shapes Dies and Stars at Night Stamp Set.

We have a color challenge for today’s Hop…and what do you know, the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper contains the colors for our challenge! I was able to use all of the colors in the challenge with the exception of Smoky Slate. But if you look really hard, I think there is a shadow of this color in the designer series paper, too!

The Double Easel Fun Fold consists of two separate card bases that are adhered together. I first cut a card base from Pretty Peacock cardstock measuring 11″ x 4-1/4″ and scored this at 5-1/2″ (I’ll call this Card Base #1). The second card base was cut from Lost Lagoon cardstock measuring 10-1/4″ x 4″ and scored at 5-1/4″ and 7-3/4″ (I’ll call this Card Base #2). The 10-1/4″ x 4″ base (Card Base #2) was then adhered to the front of the larger card base (Card Base #1).

I chose one of the floral print patterns for the front of my card (my absolute favorite print in the whole pack of paper!) and specifically cut the paper so that the greenery sweeps up from the bottom towards the upper left-hand corner. The panel was adhered to the front of Card Base #2. The designer series paper on the smaller easel panel follows the same direction. This panel was matted to a piece of Pretty Peacock then adhered to the small front easel portion of the card.
I used the Magical Meadow Dies to cut out pine and leaf sprigs from Pretty Peacock, Misty Moonlight and Basic White. The white sprig was colored in with Moody Mauve and Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends for a variegated look. I also die cut three holly leaves from Lost Lagoon cardstock. A circle was die cut from a Lost Lagoon print and adhered to the lower right corner of the large panel of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greenery sprigs were then adhered to the card front and the stems were tucked under the circle. You might ask why the circle? It provides a nice anchor for the greenery and also provides some added interest to the card, even though it is not the main focal point. A white Iridescent Ribbon bow was adhered just above the circle.

On the inside panel I stamped the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Stars at Night Stamp Set in Pretty Peacock ink. The pine sprig was partially stamped onto the lower corner of the panel in Pretty Peacock. I used a Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blend to color in the berries and highlighted each berry using white pigment ink. The panel was adhered to a Lost Lagoon mat and adhered to the inside of Card Base #1.

To finish off the card I adhered three Faceted Gems from the Faceted Gems Trio Pack to the card front. When I look at the beautiful paper on this card I think “romantic”. The paper is just so, so pretty!
