It is Thursday and you know what that means. It’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog or you are starting off with my blog…thanks so much for stopping by! I know we will see lots of great inspiration in the blog today so be sure to use the links provided below to hop around!
My card was created using the Light the Year Bundle, Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and the lovely Season of Elegance 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper.

We have a fun sketch challenge for the Hop and here it is…

Using the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder I embossed a white cardstock panel measuring 5-1/4″ x 4″. This panel was adhered to a black mat, then adhered to a Cherry Cobbler card base measuring 11″ x 4-1/4″ (and scored at 5-1/2″). A 3″ square of the Cherry Cobbler & Gold Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper was then adhered to the top of the card front. On a 2-7/8″ square of white card stock, I stamped the pine bough images on the lower left and right of the panel in Old Olive ink. I then adhered this panel to a 3″ square of black cardstock.

On scrap pieces of white cardstock, I used the two-step stamps to stamp two pinecones in Pecan Pie and Early Espresso ink. I also stamped the image of the candle in Basic Beige ink and the large lantern in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Before using the Light the Year Dies to cut out these images, I first colored in the windows of the lantern using Lemon Lolly Stampin’ Blends. The candle was shaded with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and the flame of the candle was colored in using a Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend. I used a black Stampin’ Write Marker to darken the wick of the candle. I also die cut two leaf sprigs and two berry clusters from Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Once the berries were adhered to the leaf sprigs, I adhered them to the top of the lantern. The pinecones were adhered to the back of the lantern so that they were peeking out on either side. The lantern was then adhered to the 2-7/8″ square unit using Mini Glue Dots. The unit was then adhered over the Cherry Cobbler designer series paper square at an angle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The “All is bright” sentiment was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a scrap piece of white cardstock. I used the third from smallest circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut out the sentiment. The sentiment was adhered to the card front using a combination of Stampin’ Dimensionals and liquid glue and was positioned at the lower right corner of the decorated square.
I used the pine bough stamps to stamp across the top and bottom of the inside panel (back panel) in Old Olive ink. The “Sending love and light this time of year” sentiment was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The panel was adhered to a black mat, then adhered to the back of card base.

To form the Tent Fun Fold portion of the card, I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock to 4″ x 3″. With the short side facing up, I used my Stampin’ Up Paper Trimmer to score at 1/2″, 1-1/2″ and 2-1/2″. I folded the 1/2″ and 2-1/2″ score lines as valley folds and the 1-1/2″ score line as a mountain fold. I then used liquid glue to adhere one of the 1/2″ tabs to the inside bottom of the card front and the second 1/2″ tab was adhered to the inside bottom of the card back. Here is a side view of the inside of the card base. From this photo you can see where the 1/2″ tab is adhered inside of the rear of the card base.

On the envelope front I stamped the smaller of the two lanterns in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used Lemon Lolly Stampin’ Blends to color in the windows of the lantern. I used two Post It Notes to mask off first the left, then the right bottom of the lantern and stamped pine boughs on either side of the lantern. A coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap. To finish up the card I adhered a small Cherry Cobbler & Gold Satin Ribbon bow to the top of the lantern on the card front. Three clear Opal Rounds were adhered to the card front.

I really enjoyed pulling this card together for you! The Light the Year is such a pretty set. If you would like to recreate this card you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the link below.

Thanks, Karen! I was on the fence about the Light the Year Bundle but now that I’ve used it, I’m all in! The lantern all by itself is pretty but decorate it up and it is beautiful!
