Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek of Potions & Spells Halloween Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday and time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are hopping over from Tara’s blog or you are starting off on my blog…welcome! Be prepared to see lots of inspiration in the Hop today and remember to use the links towards the bottom of this post to hop around!

I used the Potions & Spells Bundle to create this fun Halloween card. I also pulled some neutral papers from the Thoughtful Journey 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, the Flowering Zinnias 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and a little of the 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer Specialty Paper for some sparkle. The Potions & Spells Bundle will be available on July 3 in the Online Exclusives section of the Online Store.

We have a sketch challenge for today’s hop and I chose to create my card for the challenge in portrait rather than landscape orientation.

I selected a Wild Wheat print from the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper pack and adhered a panel of this paper to a Gorgeous Grape standard card base. I cut a rectangle from Gorgeous Grape cardstock and stamped the “A Little Hocus Pocus” sentiment onto the lower right corner of the rectangle in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I then stamped the multi-star image from the Potions & Spells Stamp Set across the rectangle in Gorgeous Grape ink. The rectangle was then adhered to the left side of the card front. A 3″ x 3″ square was added to the card front in a Highland Heather check print from the Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper.

The Potions & Spells Dies were used to cut out the broom, kettle, potion bottle, liquid inside of the potion bottle, the liquid pouring into the kettle and the spill over at the top of the kettle from Early Espresso, Wild Wheat and Pool Party cardstock as well as Summer Splash In Color Glimmer Paper. The kettle was stamped onto white cardstock using Pebbled Path ink and I used Pebbled Path Stampin’ Blends to color in the image. I then die cut the kettle and assembled the pieces for the card front. The broom was first adhered to the left side of the card front, followed by the 1/4″ strip. The kettle and potion bottle were then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside panel I stamped the “Happy Halloween” sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The multi-star image was stamped several times around the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink. The kettle was partially stamped onto the lower corner of the panel and colored in with Pebbled Path Stampin’ Blends. The bubbles were stamped at the top of the kettle in Pool Party ink and I colored in the bubbles using the light shade of a Pool Party Stampin’ Blend. I then dusted the bubbles with Wink of Stella for a little shimmer. The panel was adhered to a Wild Wheat mat then adhered to the inside of the card.

I repeated staming of the kettle and bubble image onto the envelope front and colored in the images with Pebbled Path and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Wink of Stella was dusted over the bubbles. A coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap, and I used a pair of paper snips to trim the excess paper away from the flap. Three Iridescent Faceted Gems were adhered above the kettle on the card front.

How fun is the Potions & Spells Bundle?! Thinking outside of the box a little this stamp set and dies do not have to be exclusively used for Halloween. Stamp or die cut the kettle in a bight color and fill it with flowers or line a shelf with brightly colored bottles! I can see multiple uses for this bundle!
