Stampin’ Up! Reindeer Fun Pop Out Christmas Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday once again (and December!) and time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog or you are starting off with my blog, thanks so much for being here! Please remember to use the links below to Hop around for more inspiration!

My card was created using the Reindeer Fun Bundle, Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper, and the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. The center of the card includes a fun pop out component!

We have a fun sketch challenge for today’s hop!

I started off with a 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8 Real Red cardstock panel and embossed this using the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. This panel was adhered to the front of a standard sized Pecan Pie card base. Next, I adhered three different print panels of the designer series paper to the card front, following the sketch above.

The sentiment label was die cut using the Greetings of the Season Dies and I used the Reindeer Fun Dies to cut out the holly and berries. Before adhering the holly to the sentiment label I used a sponge dauber to darken the edges with Garden Green ink. Silver & White Sheer Ribbon and Real Red & White Baker’s Twine was added to the top of the sentiment tag! The sentiment label was then adhered diagonally to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I created the Pop Out mechanism for the inside of the card by cutting a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock to 8-1/2″ x 2″. The piece was scored along the long edge at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″. This left a 1/2″ tab which was adhered to the opposite end, forming a tube. Two Real Red mats measuring 1-7/8″ x 1-7/8″ were adhered to what will be the front facing panels of the Pop Out.

Before adhering the Pop Out mechanism to the inside of the card, I first stamped an additional sentiment onto the top of the inside panel in Real Red ink. The tree image was stamped twice onto the lower right corner of the panel in Garden Green ink. (You can never have too many pine trees!) The panel was adhered to a Real Red mat, then adhered to the inside of the card. I then adhered the Pop Out mechanism to the inside of the card using Stampin’ Seal + and I made sure that my two front facing panels were facing outwards. I provide complete instructions on the linked pdf tutorial below.

I die cut the pieces for the reindeer head from Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake, and Early Espresso cardstocks and adhered the pieces together to form the head. A wreath was die cut from Garden Green cardstock and the reindeer head was adhered to the wreath. A Real Red bow was added to the reindeer. The completed reindeer was added to the left-facing panel on the Pop Out.

I stamped and die cut the tree image using Garden Green cardstock and Garden Green ink. The small gift image was die cut from a scrap of designer series paper (the holly print) and I added a white die cut bow to the top of the package. The tree and gift were then adhered to the right-facing side of the Pop Out.

A single tree was stamped in Garden Green ink onto the envelope to finish up the card. I opted not to adhere designer series paper to the envelope flap since this card already has a lot of layers.

I love the surprise of the Pop Out when you open this card…so fun! I will miss making cards using the Reindeer Days Suite! If you would like to recreate this card you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below. Thanks again for stopping by!
