If you visited my blog last Thursday, you would have seen a Halloween card created with the adorable Potions & Spells Bundle. This bundle will be released on July 3 in the Online Exclusives section of the Online Store. But how about using this bundle for a pretty friendship card? That’s exactly what I did for today’s card! If you would like to check out my post from last week showing the Halloween card created with this set, click here.
To start off I embossed a white panel measuring 5-1/4″ x 4″ using the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder. The panel was then adhered to a Pretty Peacock mat, then adhered to a Lemon Lolly card base. The pot image from the Potions & Spells Stamp Set was stamped onto a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock in Coastal Cabana ink, but before stamping the image, I removed the ink from the handle portion of the image. I used the dark shade of a Summer Splash Stampin’ Blend to draw in some shadows around the outside of the pot and then I used the coordinating die from the Potions & Spells Dies to cut out the image.

Our flowerpot needs some pretty handles! I used the handle dies form the Potions & Spells Dies to cut out two handles from Copper Textured Metallic Specialty Paper then adhered the handles to either side of the die cut pot. The flowerpot was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Around the Bend Dies to cut out multiple flowers and leaves from Lemon Lolly, Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie and Pretty Peacock cardstock. The flowers were arranged at the top of the flowerpot and adhered to the card front using liquid glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals. Using the Country Birdhouse Stamp Set, I stamped the “hello friend” sentiment in Coastal Cabana ink onto a white sentiment label. The label was adhered to a Pretty Peacock mat then the sentiment was adhered to the top of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The small flower images from the Country Birdhouse Stamp Set were stamped onto the upper right and lower left corners of the inside panel in Peach Pie and Pumpkin Pie ink. I also stamped the dotted image from the same stamp set and I stamped the dots in Lemon Lolly and second-generation stamped Coastal Cabana over the flower images. The panel was then adhered to a Pretty Peacock mat, then adhered to the inside of the card.

The same flowers and dots were stamped onto the envelope front and across the envelope flap. I small Linen Thread bow was tucked in among the flowers on the card front and I added three Pool Party Glossy Dots to the card front as well, to complete the project.

How would you use the Potions & Spells Bundle to create non-Halloween type cards? A friend suggested that the pot, or kettle, would make a great St. Patrick’s Day card complete with a rainbow and maybe some gold coins (great idea, Faith!), or maybe a bubble bath for baby? I love thinking of alternate ways to use my stamps and dies! If you would like to recreate this card you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below. Happy crafting!
