Unfortunately, we have a need from time to time to make a sympathy card. We recently lost a very dear family friend, and we will be sending this card to her daughters. I wanted this to be a pretty card but not too over the top. I pulled out my Country Flowers Bundle and the Country Flowers and Country Lace Designer Series Papers to create this card.
I selected a print from the Country Lace Designer Series Paper in a very muted Basic Beige lace print and a light woodgrain print from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. The lace print was cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ and the woodgrain print was cut to 4″ x 2-1/4″. The woodgrain print was then adhered to the bottom of the lace print panel using liquid glue. A length of Shy Shamrock Bordered Ribbon was wrapped around the panel between the two prints, and I secured the ends to the back of the panel using a small amount of Stampin’ Seal. The ribbon wrapped panel was then adhered to an Early Espresso mat, then adhered to the front of a Misty Moonlight card base.

On a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, I stamped the tea pot, flowers and plant from the Country Flowers Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then used a variety of Stampin’ Blends to color in the flowers. The tea pot was colored in with Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blends and the plant was colored in with Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends. I used the coordinating Country Flowers Dies to cut out the image and I also die cut a basket from a darker woodgrain print from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. The flowers were adhered to the top of the tea pot and the plant was adhered to the top of the basket. I then adhered the images together then adhered the unit to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Note that the plant is sitting behind the tea pot and is slightly higher than the tea pot.
The sentiment was stamped onto a piece of Basic Beige cardstock in Misty Moonlight ink and I used the second from the largest banner die from the Nested Essential Dies to cut out the sentiment. I also die cut an Early Espresso banner using the largest banner die from the same set. The sentiment label was adhered to the Early Espresso banner, then this was adhered to the top left of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stuck with a Basic Beige cardstock panel for the inside of the card and I used the small decorative flower image from the Country Flowers Stamp Set and stamped this image across the bottom of the panel in Misty Moonlight ink. The panel was then adhered to an Early Espresso mat, then this was adhered to the inside of the card.

For the envelope, I stamped the same small decorative flower three times onto the envelope front and once on the envelope flap. To finish up, I adhered three small Shy Shamrock Shimmer Gems to the front of the card.

While this is a sympathy card, it would also make a great birthday or friendship card. If you would like to create this card you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below.
