Stampin’ Up! Magnolia Mood Birthday Card for Amy’s Inkin Krew Team Blog Hop

It’s time for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop! If you are coming from Karen Finkle’s blog or if you are starting off the Hop from my blog today…welcome! Our theme for the Hop this month is “Birthday”, and we can interpret this any way that we’d like. I know you will see a lot of inspiration from my team members in the Hop today so be sure to use the links at the bottom of this blog post to check them out!

I created this birthday card using the Magnolia Mood Bundle which will be available on March 5 in the Online Exclusives section of the online store. The stamped and die cut images from the bundle are breathtaking and I had a hard time deciding whether to stamp the large magnolia image and color and die cut it, or color the die cut image. The die cut image won!

When I was growing up our neighbors next door had a pink magnolia tree. The magnolia tree itself was mature and large and the blooms were large and beautiful as well. The centers of the blooms were a deep pink which faded out to a creamy white on the tips of the petals. I attempted to capture the coloring of these blooms here on my card today.

I started off by die cutting the largest magnolia image from white cardstock and I used Stampin’ Blends in Bubble Bath and Berry Burst to color the blooms and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends to color the leaves. A Stampin’ Blend Color Lifter was used to create highlights where needed.

On a white panel, I stamped the seed pod image in Soft Sea Foam ink and angled the images to the right and left. The panel was adhered to an Old Olive mat, then wrapped with Linen Thread. The colored die cut magnolia image was then adhered to this panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals and positioned so that the the stamped seed pods underneath would show. The panel was then adhered to the front of a Soft Sea Foam card base using liquid glue. A matted sentiment label was added to the lower right of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The image of the seed pod was partially stamped onto the inside panel in Soft Sea Foam along with an additional sentiment which was stamped in Old Olive ink. The panel was added to a mat in Old Olive, then adhered to the inside of the card.

The same seed pod image was stamped onto the envelope front in Soft Sea Foam ink. A double Linen Thread bow was adhered to the card front just to the left of the large magnolia image and adhered using a Mini Glue Dot. Three Bubble Bath Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins were added to the card front to complete the card.

The Magnolia Mood Bundle has quickly risen to the top of my favorites list for obvious reasons! I will definitely be turning to this set again for future cards. This set would make great friendship, thinking of you and sympathy cards as well as birthday cards. If you would like to recreate this card, you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below. The Magnolia Mood Bundle will be available as an Online Exclusive in the online store in just a few weeks on March 5!
