Inky Bee Stampers

The Forever Forest Bundle was used to create today’s card in addition to some paper from the Let’s Go Fishing 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper pack, Nested Essentials Dies, Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder and a sentiment from the Botanical Layers Stamp Set. Wild Wheat, Mossy Meadow and Crushed Curry help to set the Fall mood of this card.

Have you ever walked through a pine forest? The smell of pine is intoxicating! A carpet of pine needles covers the forest floor as the wind rustles through the pine needles on the trees. We have a local state park located in Beaver Valley that has an area of pine forest and it is a magical place to visit! When I saw the Forever Forest Bundle in the catalog it reminded me of the pine forest I visited as a young adult.

I entered this card in the Tic Tac Toe Challenge #230. My card fits the first row across, the left column down and on the diagonal from right to left.

I started off by embossing a Very Vanilla panel measuring 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ using the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder. I used blending brushes to randomly blend Mossy Meadow and Crushed Curry ink over the embossed surface. The embossed panel was then adhered to the front of a Wild Wheat card base.

The Forever Forest Dies were used to cut out four pine trees of varying heights from Mossy Meadow cardstock. The die cut trees were arranged across the embossed panel and adhered down with liquid glue.

The Nested Essentials Dies were used to cut out several hexagons. I used the largest die to cut out a hexagon from Mossy Meadow cardstock and the second to largest die to cut out a hexagon from the plaid print from the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper. The smaller hexagon was adhered to the larger hexagon using liquid glue. Linen Thread was wrapped horizontally around the hexagons two times with the ends secured on the back of the unit using a small amount of Stampin’ Seal. The hexagon unit was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used the smallest hexagon from the Nested Essentials Dies to cut out a hexagon from Very Vanilla cardstock. This hexagon serves as the sentiment label. I stamped the thank you sentiment from the Botanical Layers Stamp Set onto the sentiment label using Mossy Meadow ink. The sentiment label was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was placed over the larger, previously adhered hexagon shapes. A double Linen Thread bow was adhered to the left of the sentiment label using a Mini Glue Dot.

I kept the inside of the card simple and stamped a single pine tree onto the lower corner of the panel in Mossy Meadow ink. Without reinking my blending brushes, I brushed Mossy Meadow ink over the bottom portion of the pine tree and Crushed Curry ink over the top portion of the pine tree. The ink blending helps to ground the pine tree and provides a little background interest. The panel was then adhered to the inside of the card.

To decorate the front of the envelope, I again stamped a single pine tree and blended Mossy Meadow and Crushed Curry inks over the stamped image. A piece of coordinating designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap, and I used paper snips to trim away the excess paper from the envelope flap. Lastly, Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots were adhered to the card front.
