Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek – Christmas Classics Christmas Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday and you know what that means! Time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are stopping off at my blog first, or if you are hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog, welcome, and thanks for stopping by!

My card for today’s Hop was created using the Christmas Classics Bundle, Joy of Noel Dies, and the Shining Brightly 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper. The Christmas Classics Bundle and the Joy of Noel Bundle both contain beautiful images, sentiments and dies for creating holiday cards (although I didn’t use the Joy of Noel Stamp Set on this card). The Shining Brightly Specialty Designer Series Paper is in gold, Very Vanilla and Night of Navy and is breathtaking! I will be ordering at least two more packs of this paper…one pack is not enough!

Here is the sketch challenge for today’s Hop…

I started off by adhering one of the Very Vanilla and gold prints from the Shining Brightly Specialty Designer Series Paper to a black mat, then adhered this to a card base in Pretty Peacock. Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon are great “greens” for holiday images! I then used the holly image from the Christmas Classics Stamp Set to stamp this image two times onto Lost Lagoon cardstock using VersaMark ink. I sprinkled gold embossing powder over the stamped images and used my Heat Tool to set the embossing powder. The coordinating die from the Christmas Classics Dies set was used to cut out the images.

From the Joy of Noel Dies set, I used the pine bough image and cut two pine boughs from Distress Gold Specialty Paper and two from Pretty Peacock cardstock.

I then stamped the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Christmas Classics Stamp Set onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock measuring 3-5/8″ x 1-1/8″. Notice the unusual shape on the ends of the sentiment label? This was a happy accident. I used the Very Best Trio Punch and punched a “fancy” corner on each corner of the sentiment label. The sentiment label was just the right width to give me the pointed ends on the label. Like I mentioned…happy accident! I love the look! The sentiment was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.

I pre-fit the die cut pine boughs onto the card front and when I was happy with their placement, glued them to the card front. The sentiment label was adhered to the left of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then tucked in the gold embossed holly leaves on opposite ends of the sentiment label, making sure to tuck the ends under the label.

For the inside panel I stamped the pine bough image in opposite corners of the panel – once in Lost Lagoon and twice in Pretty Peacock. An additional sentiment was stamped just to the top left of the panel and then the panel was adhered to a black mat. This unit was then adhered to the inside of the card.

The pine bough image was stamped onto the lower corner of the envelope front in Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock. A coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap and the excess paper was trimmed away from the flap.

Lastly, I added several gold Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the card front to finish up the card. I don’t think you can go wrong using this gorgeous paper and images for your holiday cards. I had a lot of fun creating this card for you today and I hope you like it and I hope you enjoyed another sneak peek of products that will be available from the Mini Catalog on September 6!

  5. Well! I was going to say STUNNING, but it seems others had the same idea. So then, maybe gorgeous, but again, used by others. What can I say? Your card is so very lovely that all adjectives fit. I agree that Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock are great ‘greens’ for Christmas cards, though I am not sure I would have thought about using them. They are more subtle and simply beautiful, especially paired with the gold. Well done.
