Stampin’ Up! Construction Zone Boy’s Birthday Card

This card was created using the adorable Construction Zone Stamp Set, Nested Essentials Dies, and Neutrals 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. When our sons were little, they were fascinated by construction vehicles…big and small and so I think any little boy would just love receiving this birthday card! Oh, and the Nested Essentials Dies, are a must have!

I started by adhering a piece of the Neutrals Designer Series Paper to the front of a Pumpkin Pie card base. Using the Nested Essentials Dies, I cut out a large banner shape in Pumpkin Pie and adhered the banner to the top center of the card front. The banner helps in breaking up all of the gray on the background and provides some interest. I also die cut 2 small and 1 large, rounded rectangle from Basic White cardstock. On the large rectangle I stamped the image of the cement mixer in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and used Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends to color in the image. This rectangle was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was positioned to the left, over top of the banner.

On one of the small die cut rectangles, I stamped the image of the man and colored him in using Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. This rectangle was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was placed onto the lower left of the card. The last die cut rectangle was reserved for the sentiment label and I stamped the caution tape image in Daffodil Delight ink and then stamped the sentiment over top of this in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I adhered a short length of the black and white Gingham Ribbon over the lower right of the card front and adhered the sentiment label over top using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped an additional sentiment onto the inside panel then stamped the forklift, gift and caution cone on the bottom of the panel – all in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I stuck with the same color theme for these images and used Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends to color in.

The crane was stamped onto the envelope front and colored with Stampin’ Blends. I added a piece of coordinating designer series paper to the envelope flap and trimmed the excess paper away from the flap. Multiple Classic Matte Dots in black were added to the card front to complete the card.

I had fun creating this card! It takes me back to when my boys were small! If you would like to recreate this card, you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial for this card by clicking on the image below.
