Inky Bee Stampers

I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets, the Cottage Wreaths Stamp Set, for today’s card. I also used Earthen Elegance 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and a fun ink blending and water splatter technique.

A piece of the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper in a Pecan Pie pattern was adhered to a card base in Pretty Peacock. Using a blending brush, I brushed Pretty Peacock ink over a white panel measuring approximately 4-3/4″ x 3-1/4″. I then used a small paint brush dipped in water to splatter water droplets across the ink blended surface of the panel. A dry paper towel was used to blot up the water droplets. I then used the 2nd to largest die from the Countryside Corners Dies to cut out the panel. Using the twig wreath image from the Cottage Wreaths Stamp set, I stamped the image in Pecan Pie ink onto the center of the ink blended panel. The berry image from the same stamp set was used to stamp berries around the wreath using VersaMark ink. I then sprinkled gold embossing powder over the wreath and used my Heat Tool to set the embossing powder.

The largest die from the Countryside Corners Dies was used to cut out an additional panel from a Pretty Peacock print from the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper pack. The ink blended and stamped panel was adhered to the Pretty Peacock print panel and then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped onto a Pretty Peacock sentiment label in VersaMark ink then sprinkled with gold embossing powder and heat set using my Heat Tool. I used the Banners Pick A Punch to cut a banner end on the left side of the label. The sentiment label was adhered to the card front using a combination of glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the lower corner of the inside panel, I used the same ink blending and water splatter technique and adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

The same ink blending and splatter technique was also applied to the envelope front except that I placed a scrap piece of cardstock inside of the envelope before splattering any water on the envelope. This just help protects the rest of the envelope from the water and any ink that might want to bleed through. I decorated the wreath on the front of the card with multiple gold Festive Pearls and a double Linen Thread bow was added to the top of the wreath to finish off the card.

I had tried the ink blending and water splatter technique on another card I created a few months ago but the colors were much lighter. On this card’s front panel the technique is on full display and beautiful! I would also like to test other colors to see if the water droplets lift the ink as easily as they did using Pretty Peacock. I know from experience that certain watercolors lift easier than others…I would think the same would be true for inks. Hey, if we can’t experiment and have fun…what is the point?
