Inky Bee Stampers

I received my Nature’s Paintings Kit in the mail this weekend and I could hardly wait to color one of the images. The Nature’s Paintings Kit is part of the Kits Collection and comes with a pad of 24 line art images – 2 each of 12 different designs. The Kit also comes with 8 Watercolor Pencils as well as a Water Painter!

The line art images are a collection of beautiful floral designs that are waiting to be colored, including garden florals, tropical, fall and Christmas themed images. This post is more about the Nature’s Paintings Kit rather than the card I created using the Kit. You can use the colored images to create a project however you choose!

I chose the poinsettia line art image to color since the Christmas season is close at hand. The poinsettias were colored using the supplied Red and Early Espresso Watercolor Pencils and I added a Cherry Cobbler pencil that I already had on hand. The centers of the flowers were colored in Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso. The holly leaves were colored with a Garden Green and Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencils and the background was lightly sketched in using the Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencil.

The line art images in the Nature’s Paintings Kit measure 6″ x 4-1/2″ and feel like a heavy hot press watercolor paper. The paper took water very well without any issues. Once I had the image completely colored, I cut the panel down to 5-1/2″ x 4″, being careful to trim away an equal amount of the panel on each side. I length of Shaded Spruce Satin & Sheer Ribbon was wrapped around the left side of the panel vertically, then the ends were adhered to the back of the panel. The panel was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals so that an equal amount of the Shaded Spruce card base showed on the left and right of the panel. An additional length of ribbon was used to tie a bow.

I stamped a sentiment from the Sentimental Wishes Stamp Set onto a 2″ x 7/8″ piece of what cardstock in Real Red ink, and the sentiment label was adhered to the center of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The inside panel (not shown) was stamped with an additional sentiment in Real Red ink, then I stamped the holly image from the Sentimental Wishes Stamp Set onto the upper left and lower right corners in Smoky Slate ink and used the Watercolor Pencils to color in the stamped images. I repeated stamping and coloring of the holly image onto the envelope front and a bow from the Sentimental Wishes Stamp Set was stamped onto the envelope flap in Real Red ink and colored in with a Real Red Watercolor Pencil.

As a friend pointed out to me recently, the Nature’s Paintings Kit would make an excellent gift for crafting friends.
