Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek – Reindeer Fun Gift Card Holder for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday at time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are starting off with my blog or you’re hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog…welcome! We have a fun sketch challenge for the Hop today and I know you’re going to see lots of inspiration so be sure to use the links towards the bottom of this post to check it out!

I created this fun little gift card holder using products from the upcoming Reindeer Days Suite Collection. These products will be available on September 4 for customer ordering. I don’t know about you but I always need a gift card holder or two around the holidays.

And here is the sketch challenge for today…

The card base for this card measures 7-1/5″ x 5-1/2″ and was scored on the long edge at 3-1/4″. I selected a holly print from the Reindeer Days 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and cut two panels. One measuring 5-3/8″ x 3-1/8″ and the other measuring 5-3/8″ x 7/8″. These panels were then adhered to the front of the card. The sentiment label was created from a strip of white cardstock measuring 5-1/4″ x 1″.

Using the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set, I stamped the sentiment to the far right of the white strip of cardstock, then I used my paper trimmer to cut the strip at an angle just to the left of the sentiment. The right portion of the strip was adhered to the right side of a 5-3/8″ x 1″ Real Red strip of cardstock and the left portion of the white strip was adhered to the left side of the Real Red Strip to create a red break in between the white sections. This strip was then adhered to the bottom of the 3-1/8″ section of the card front.

I used the second from the largest circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut out a circle from Real Red cardstock. The Reindeer Fun Dies were used to cut out the components for the reindeer head, wreath and bell. The three dies to create the reindeer head fit perfectly together to provide all of the details. The reindeer chest was tucked inside of the wreath and adhered with a little bit of liquid glue. The reindeer and wreath were then adhered to the center of the red circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The circle was then adhered to the card front.

A piece of Real Red & White Baker’s Twine was threaded through the top of the Gold Foil bell and I tied a small bow. The bell was added just under the reindeer’s chin using a small bit of liquid glue.

On the inside panel, I stamped an additional sentiment from the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set in Real Red ink, then stamped the small image of the pine tree in Garden Green ink. Snow was stamped below the tree in Pool Party ink. I used a Real Red Stampin’ Blend to dot in ornaments on the tree. The panel was then adhered to the inside of the card base.

To create the gift card holder, I cut another piece of the holly print Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper to 5-3/8″ x 2″. I used the second from the largest circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut out a partial circle from the top of the designer series paper panel. This cut out makes it easy to slide the gift card in and out. I applied Tear & Tape to the left, bottom and right edges of the designer series paper panel, then adhered it to the upper section of the inside of the card.

I repeated stamping of the pine tree and snow on the envelope front and a coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap. Three Iridescent Faceted Gems were added to the card front to complete the project.

I didn’t even use a fraction of the stamps and dies in the Reindeer Fun Bundle! There are even dies to cut out reindeer from the designer series paper! So fun! If you would like to recreate this gift card holder you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below.
