Today’s card was created using the Hooray for Surprises Stamp Set and the Bee Mine 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and a 2-3/8″ Circle Punch. These products will be available from the January-April 2024 Mini Catalog beginning on January 4!
This card came together quickly after I figured out how to incorporate the gift card holder I was thinking about. I have been on a gift card holder roll lately! The goal was to create a combination inside panel and gift card holder in one so that when you open the card the gift card holder is attached and folds down. I got out some ordinary copy paper and started playing around and this is what I came up with. I’m not certain if anyone else has come up with this idea or not…but this is what I came up with. Complete instructions including diagrams can be found on the linked pdf tutorial below!
To begin, I adhered a Sweet Sorbet floral print from the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper pack to the front of a Petal Pink card base. I used my 2-3/8″ Circle Punch to punch out a circle from Basic White cardstock. Using the images from the Hooray for Surprises Stamp Set, I stamped the birthday cake in Petal Pink towards the bottom of the circle. The candle was stamped in Sweet Sorbet, and the candle flame was stamped in Daffodil Delight ink. I then stamped the “Make a Wish” sentiment in Sweet Sorbet over top of the previously stamped cake. And because I couldn’t resist…I also stamped some hearts and flowers around the top of the circle. The circle was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. How cute!

For the combination inside panel and gift card holder I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 8″ x 5-1/4″. This cardstock was scored on the long edge at 4″ and 6″. The two score lines form the gift card holder, which sits at the bottom of the inside panel portion of the panel. Folding the 4″ score line as a valley fold and the 6″ score line as a mountain fold, I adhered these two sections together along the sides and bottom using Tear & Tape and adhered the sections together. This creates a “closed” pocket. I then took the piece to my paper trimmer and trimmed off just the folded top edge of the gift card portion of this panel to create an “open” pocket. A piece of coordinating designer series paper was then adhered to the front of the pocket section, and I used a circle punch to punch out a quarter of a circle shape at the top opening of the pocket.

On the inside panel portion of the cardstock piece, I stamped the birthday sentiment in Sweet Sorbet ink and then stamped small hearts on either side of the sentiment using Petal Pink ink. I folded the gift card holder portion of this panel inward then applied glue to just the inside panel portion of the card and adhered it to a Sweet Sorbet mat. The gift card portion of this panel was left glue-free. The panel was then adhered to the inside of the card base.

On the envelope front I stamped several hearts in Petal Pink and a few flowers in Sweet Sorbet. A piece of coordinating designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap with the excess paper trimmed away from the flap. A bow in Petal Pink was added to the card front – just above the circle sentiment. I also added a heart and flower from the Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers embellishment pack to the circle to complete the card.

I had a lot of fun creating this combination card and gift card holder for you! I hope you’ll give it a try. As mentioned previously the linked pdf tutorial below contains detailed instructions and diagrams. Just click on the image under this paragraph to access the tutorial! Enjoy!
