Stampin’ Up! A Walk in the Forest Holiday Card

I used a number of products for today’s holiday card…but “Bear” with me (pun intended)! The focus on this card is really the beautiful A Walk in the Forest 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. The Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper is a Stampin’ Up! Making a Difference product. For every pack of paper purchased, Stampin’ Up will donate $3 to organizations that support spreading cheer and providing support to those in need! That’s huge! But wait…there is more! There are two other products that coordinate with this paper – the Beary Cute Punch and the Merriest Trees Dies! How fun is that?!

I entered this card in the Sunday Stamps Challenge – SSC318 A Banner of a Sketch. This is my first time entering this challenge! Here is the sketch I used to create this card…

I started off with a card base in Old Olive and used the holly and berry image from the Joy of Noel stamp set to stamp the image all around the edges of the card base front using Old Olive ink. This provides a nice subtle background.

I selected a pine and berry print from the A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper and cut a panel measuring 4-5/8″ x 3-3/8″. This was adhered to a Garden Green mat. I cut several 1″ banners for this panel – one in a pine print from the A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper and one from Distressed Gold Specialty Paper. I used my Banners Pick A Punch to cut banner ends on each of these 1″ strips. The banners were adhered to the pine and berry panel on the left.

Using the Joy of Noel Bundle, I stamped the berry sprig image in Pecan Pie ink onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock. I used a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend to color in the berries, then used the coordinating die to cut out the image. I also die cut a pine bough from Old Olive cardstock using the same set. Using the Beary Cute Punch, I punched out a bear from the A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper. The third largest tree die from the Merriest Trees Dies was used to cut out one of the trees from the A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper also. The tree, berry sprig and pine bough were arranged on the top of the panel and adhered with liquid glue. The bear was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and positioned toward the top of the panel over the previously adhered banners. The panel was then adhered to the card front.

On the inside panel I used the same holly and berry image from the Joy of Noel Stamp Set and stamped this onto the upper right and lower left corners of the panel in Old Olive ink. I stamped the “Season’s Greetings” sentiment from the Christmas Classics Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler ink. The panel was adhered to an Old Olive mat then adhered to the inside of the card base.

I used a short length of black Baker’s Twine to tie a single bow and I added the bow to the card front using a Mini Glue Dot. I repeated stamping of the holly and berry image and stamped this in Old Olive ink onto the lower corner of the envelope front. A piece of coordinating designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap and I trimmed the excess paper away from the flap.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today…I had a lot of fun creating it! If you would like to recreate this card you can download, save and print the pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below.

Under Construction

You may notice a different look to my blog. It appears that I was using an outdated theme which was causing issues with saving my blog posts, the way photos were displaying on my blog and a few other things. I needed to select a new theme for my blog, and it will take me a few days to dial in the appearance. Please hang in there with me while I make these necessary changes. Thank you for your patience!
