Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Garden Watercolor Thank You Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday and that means that it is time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! I’m looking forward to seeing the projects in the Hop this week…I know the projects will be inspirational as always! If you are hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog, welcome and thanks for stopping by!

This vividly painted card was created using the Gorgeous Garden Dies, Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and three ink colors!

We have a color challenge for this week’s Hop! I used four of the five colors – Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry.

I started off by die cutting the floral die from the Gorgeous Garden Dies from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Because the watercolor paper is a little thicker than cardstock, I ran the die through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine several times.

I used my larger stamping blocks and dabbed ink from my ink pads onto the blocks in Lost Lagoon, Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral. A small amount of water was added to each ink as I was ready to use it. The flowers were painted in Crushed Curry, the berries in Calypso Coral and the leaves in Lost Lagoon. After the panel was fully painted, I then focused on the flower centers. I used clean water to wet the flower centers and painted Calypso Coral just around the area that was painted with clean water. I cleaned my brush in water, then brushed water around the edges of the flower centers I just painted to encourage the Calypso Coral to blend with the Crushed Curry of the flowers. The panel was then adhered to a Basic Black card base using small drops of glue.

From the Botanical Layers Stamp Set, I stamped the sentiment “Thank you for everything onto a Pool Party sentiment label. The label was then adhered to a Basic Black mat and the sentiment label was adhered to the lower right corner of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using the large leaf image from the Botanical Layers Stamp Set, I partially stamped this image onto the upper and lower corners of the inside panel in Lost Lagoon ink. The inside panel was then adhered to a mat in Pool Party and adhered to the inside of the card.

The same leaf image was partially stamped onto the envelope front and envelope flap in Lost Lagoon ink. I tied a small bow from Linen Thread and adhered the bow just behind the upper left corner of the sentiment label to complete the card.

I hope you enjoyed my card today! The black card base really makes the colors pop on this water-colored panel. If you would like to recreate this card, click on the image below for the pdf tutorial which includes complete instructions.
