Stampin’ Up! Lighting The Way Celebration Card

It is summer and that means cookouts, family vacations and fireflies rising up out of the grass when the sun goes down! This fun night scene was created using the Lighting the Way Stamp Set and Lighting the Way Dies. A little texture was provided on the background using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder!

I entered my card in the Tic Tac Toe Challenge TTTC#216. My card fits for the left column down, and the bottom row across.

A panel in Granny Apple Green was first embossed using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. The panel was adhered to a card base in Granny Apple Green.

I stamped and die cut all of the pieces for my card front including grasses, and the Firefly. The firefly’s body was cut from Pecan Pie cardstock, the tail from Lemon Lolly cardstock and the wings from a scrap piece of Vellum Basics Specialty Designer Series Paper and then the firefly was assembled.

The firefly was temporarily placed onto a Starry Sky panel to determine placement. I used the “glow” trail stamp from the Lighting the Way Stamp Set and stamped onto the panel using VersaMark ink. I then sprinkled white embossing powder over the stamped area and heat set with my Heat Tool. I then used a Lemon Lolly Stampin’ Blend to color all of the white embossing to give it a yellow glow. The Starry Sky panel was then adhered to the card front using liquid glue.

The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock and die cut using the oval label die from the All That Dies set. The grasses were adhered to the lower left of the Starry Sky panel using glue and the sentiment label was placed over the bottom of the grasses using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The firefly was placed onto the upper right of the Starry Sky panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was positioned so that the bottom of the firefly met up with the top of the embossed glow trail.

I used the tip of my stylus dipped in white pigment ink to dot stars across the Starry Sky panel. Although it doesn’t show up in the photos (but looks pretty on the card) I also dotted Wink of Stella across the panel and dusted the grass and firefly with Wink of Stella.

An additional sentiment was stamped onto the inside panel and I stamped the grass image and a small firefly in the lower corner of the panel. The panel was then adhered to the inside of the card.

To finish off the card I stamped the grass image and small firefly onto the envelope front, and I stamped a single firefly onto the envelope flap. Several Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels were added to the Starry Sky panel on the card front to complete the card.

I had so much fun creating this card! I hope you enjoy it! You can download, save and print the pdf tutorial for the card by clicking on the image below.
