Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek – Shop the Town Joy Fold Christmas Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday and you know what that means! Time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you are hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog, welcome, and thanks for stopping by!

For today’s Hop I’m using a stamp set from the upcoming Mini Catalog (available for customer orders beginning on Sept 6) – the Shop the Town Stamp Set. I saw this stamp set in the catalog and had to have it! It is a stand-alone stamp set but it coordinates with the Let’s Go Shopping Dies from the Annual Catalog! I also used some of the new Shining Brightly 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper from the new Mini Catalog. This specialty paper is breathtakingly beautiful!

We have a fun fold challenge for today’s Hop and I’m calling my card for today a Vertical Joy Fold.

I started off with a large card base in Night of Navy that measures 8-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ and is scored at 3″. I matted some of the Shining Brightly Specialty Designer Series Paper in a Very Vanilla and gold design to Very Vanilla cardstock and adhered a panel to the inside of the card base as well as the outside 3″ flap.

The second card base, also in Night of Navy, measures 9″ x 3-1/4″ and was scored at 4-1/2″. I matted a Night of Navy print with gold stars to a Very Vanilla mat and this panel was adhered to the front of the small card base. To create the Joy Fold card, the small card base was adhered to the inside panel of the large card base. You can see how the card fits together in the profile photo below.

The house images from the Shop the Town Stamp Set were stamped onto Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used a variety of Stampin’ Blends markers and the Color Lifter Stampin’ Blend to color in the images. The houses were die cut using the coordinating dies from the Let’s Go Shopping Dies and then adhered together. Two snowbanks were die cut from the dies in the Horse & Sleigh Dies set and after a quick trim, were adhered towards the bottom of the die cut house.

Before adhering the house and snow to the card front, I used my 2″ Circle Punch to punch out a circle from Distressed Gold 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper. The circle was adhered towards the upper left of the small card base front and will serve as the moon rising up behind the house! I then adhered the house and snow to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

From the Shop the Town Stamp Set sentiment “Christmas magic is in the air” I stamped only a partial sentiment of “Christmas magic” onto a Very Vanilla sentiment label. The sentiment was stamped to the left of the sentiment label in Night of Navy ink and I cut a banner on the right side of the sentiment label. The label was adhered to the outside of the flap on the large card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the remainder of the sentiment, “is in the air” in Night of Navy ink onto the inside panel. Just below this sentiment, I stamped the small wreath image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored the image in with Stampin’ Blends. The inside panel was then adhered to the inside of the small card base.

To finish up the card, I partially stamped the Christmas tree image onto the envelope front and colored in the image using Stampin’ Blends. A coordinating piece of the Shining Brightly Specialty Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap, and I trimmed the excess paper away from the flap. A gold Festive Pearl was added to the doorknob of the house on the card front. A single gold Adhesive-Backed Star Trinket was adhered just above the house in the stary sky.

I had so much fun creating this card for you today! Special shout out to Mary, Faith and Rosie who helped me with some design decisions on this card! This is definitely one of those cards you would reserve for a special family member or a cherished friend! You can download complete instructions for this card by clicking on the image below.

    1. Hi Kathleen. The Shop the Town Stamp Set is only available to demonstrators right now. You will be able to find this stamp set in the upcoming Sep-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog, which will be available to customers beginning on Sept. 6. This is a sneak peek of the stamp set. The two house dies in the Let’s Go Shopping Dies set will cut out the stamped houses from the Shop the Town Stamp Set…which is fun! Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
