Pansy Petals Easy Side-step Card and 4 Days and Counting!

PANSY PETALS EASY SIDE-STEP CARD

I CASE’d the fold for this easy side-step card from Julie Davison…thank you, Julie! I liked this card fold for its simplicity. The cuts and scores for a traditional side-step card can be complicated…and confusing! This card was made from the Pansy Patch Bundle and the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper as well as a Bumblebee trinket. You can find this suite in the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalog.

The card base was cut from Pale Papaya cardstock. DSP from the suite was used to cover the three front panels. I used Fresh Freesia to cut out the pansy and the pansy bud in the foreground and used Evening Evergreen for the bud stem. I applied Fresh Freesia ink to darken the cardstock in certain areas for the pansies. The two pansies in the background were cut from the DSP using dies from the suite. The leaves were also cut from a piece of the DSP (how cool is it that you can use the dies to cut out shapes from the DSP?!). I used the Label Me Lovely punch (also from the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalog) for the sentiment in basic white and then again in Evening Evergreen for a shadow layer underneath. This particular card is for a birthday but could be used for Easter, a get well wish, thinking of you, etc. I think it’s so bright and cheerful!

  • Card Base: Cut to 5-1/2″ x 8″, then scored at 3″, 6″ and 7″
  • Side Step: Cut to 3″ x 6″, then score at 4-1/4″
  • Designer Series Paper: Cut one at 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ (for the front “step” on the card base), one at 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ (for the card “front”) and one at 4″ x 2-3/4″ (for the front of the “side-step).
  • Cardstock for inside sentiment is cut to 2-3/4″ x 4″
  • Optional cardstock for back of card: Cut to 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″

HINT – When adhering the side-step to the card base, close the card base and adhere the side-step to the small step on the card base front first. Then, adhere the back of the side-step piece to the back of the card base…you will only glue about a 1/2″ of the side-step to the back of the card. Check placement before adhering!
