Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Birthday Card with Ink Blending

Here is another birthday card using the Two-Tone Flora Bundle, except this time I added some ink blending using one of the masks from the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks set. The circular ink blended area provides a soft look to the card and the blooms from the Two-Tone Flora Bundle are lovely nestled around the trellis circle! The Pansy Patch Stamp Set was used for the sentiments as this set has such pretty fonts!

I have entered this card in the Sunday Stamps Weekly Challenge #302 (#SSC302). You can check out all of the wonderful submissions at this site – click on the link above or the image below to visit the site. Here is the sketch challenge…

I also entered this card in the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #195 (#TTTC195). Here is the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge board… I used the left column down, right column down and the bottom row across. Be sure to visit the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge site to have a look by clicking on the link above or the image below!

I started off by creating a circle mask from a cardstock panel using the Layering Circles Dies, then layered the die cut panel to a white cardstock panel of the same size. The panels were secured together and I used one of the masks from the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks set and added the mask to the top of my panels. I used a blending brush to blend Parakeet Party ink over the die cut circle mask. The mask creates a lovely, soft trellis look! The masks were removed…now on to the flowers.

Using the Two-Tone Flora Stamp Set, I used the two-step stamps and stamped out two large and two medium-sized flowers in Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather, and Petal Pink and Blushing Bride combinations. The small, clustered flowers were stamped twice in Gorgeous Grape and Blackberry Bliss inks. Four sets of leaves were stamped in Parakeet Party ink. The coordinating dies from the Two-Tone Flora Dies set were used to die cut all of the flowers and leaves.

A mat in Parakeet party was added to the front of a card base in Gorgeous Grape. The ink-blended panel was adhered to a mat in Gorgeous Grape, then this unit was adhered to the card front. The die cut flowers and leaves were adhered around the ink-blended circle in the upper right and lower left of the panel.

Using the Pansy Patch Stamp Set, I stamped the sentiment “Happy Birthday” onto a white sentiment label using Gorgeous Grape ink. I used a blending brush to lightly blend Parakeet Party ink around the label edges then the sentiment label was adhered to the card front just below center and to the right. Several Brushed Brass Butterflies were added to the card front.

An additional sentiment was added to the inside panel and Parakeet Party ink was lightly blended over the stamped sentiment. The small cluster of flowers were stamped onto the lower right corner of the panel in Gorgeous Grape and Blackberry Bliss ink and more ink blending was added over these stamped flowers. The panel was adhered to a mat in Parakeet Party then this unit was adhered to the inside of the card.

The same small cluster of flowers were stamped onto the envelope front and envelope flap and I lightly blended Parakeet Party ink over these stamped flowers.

I had a lot of fun participating in the Sunday Stamps and Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges! If you’d like a pdf tutorial on how I created this card, you can click on the image below to access the tutorial.

Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Flora Valentine’s Day Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday and you know what that means…it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! Are you ready to hop around and see some great projects?

I created my card for today using the Two-Tone Flora Bundle, and the Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper.

We have a theme challenge for today’s Hop. The theme is “Love”! What says “Love” more than a Valentine’s Day card!

If you’re hopping over from Terry Lynn’s blog…thanks for stopping by!

I started off with a card base in Night of Navy. This is a top fold card. I used the large, intricate die from the Two-Tone Flora Dies set to cut a piece of the Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in an all-over Balmy Blue, Orchid Oasis, and Pool Party pattern. This panel was cut to 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8 and the die was centered over the panel. I love the variegated look once this panel was die cut! The panel was then adhered to the front of the card base.

Using the leaf image from the Two-Tone Flora Stamp Set, I stamped the image twice onto a scrap piece of Orchid Oasis cardstock then used the coordinating dies from the Two-Tone Flora Dies set to cut the images out. On a scrap piece of white cardstock, I used the two-step stamps for the largest flower image and stamped the detailed image in Orchid Oasis ink and the filler image using Pool Party ink. I then used the coordinating die from the Two-Tone Flora Stamp Set to cut out this image.

Using additional pieces of white cardstock, I used the Layering Circles Dies to cut out two circles – one using the 2nd to smallest circle die and one using the 2nd to largest circle die. The sentiment “With Love” was stamped onto the smallest circle. The die cut flower and leaf sprigs were arranged on the larger circle. Both circle units were arranged onto the card front. The flower image was placed on the lower left of the card and the sentiment to the upper right.

Using the Country Bouquet Stamp Set, I stamped the sentiment “Happy Valentine’s Day” onto the inside panel using Orchid Oasis ink. The two-step large flower was stamped onto the lower left corner of this panel – again, using Orchid Oasis and Pool Party inks. I then stamped just the background image for the flower onto a Post It Note, then fussy cut around the background image to create a mask. I then placed the mask onto the stamped flower on the panel and stamped the leaf image in Orchid Oasis ink on each side of the flower. The mask was removed, and I adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

Two short lengths of Pool Party Grosgrain Ribbon were tied together to form a knot. I then trimmed the ribbon ends laying on top shorter than those below and all ribbon ends were trimmed at an angle. The ribbon was adhered to the card front using a Mini Glue Dot and placed just below the flower. An Orchid Oasis Stampin’ Blend was used to color several Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the rhinestones were placed around the card front.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today! If you would like to recreate this card you can download, save and print a pdf tutorial by clicking on the image below.

Let’s get back to the hop! If you’re just starting the hop here, you can click on the “next” button below to hop to Amy Koenders blog and the top of the blog list. Or, you can click on any name below to go directly to that person’s blog. Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Flora Birthday Card – Another Sneak Peek from the Mini Catalog!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas! Here’s another sneak peek from the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog for you! I used the Two-Tone Flora Bundle and the Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to create this pretty card. I used a sentiment from the Something Fancy Stamp Set. The Two-Tone Flora Stamp Set is a two-step stamp set, meaning that you can first stamp the detailed image, then use the coordinating stamp to stamp the solid image…very fun to play with!

I first adhered a panel from the gorgeous Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper pack to a card base in Orchid Oasis (my absolute favorite, favorite color!). I then used the largest die to cut out the intricate floral pattern in Basic White cardstock. I trimmed down this large die cut – trimming around the cut-out flower and leaf shapes to reveal more of the pretty designer series paper underneath. The die cut panel was then adhered to the card front using very small drops of glue.

Using Scraps of white cardstock I stamped two of the pretty Two-Tone Flora flowers in Orchid Oasis and one in Daffodil Delight. Do you like blue and yellow together as much as I do? I think it’s such a pretty combination! I also stamped two of the leaf sprigs in Soft Succulent ink. I used the coordinating dies from the Two-Tone Flora Dies set to cut out these images. I used a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend to color in the flower centers on the blue flowers and a Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend to color in the center of the yellow flower.

The flowers and leaf sprigs were dry fit onto the lower left side of the card front and when I was happy with the placement, I adhered the yellow flower and two leaf sprigs to the card front using glue. The two blue flowers slightly overlap each other and were adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used a small piece of the designer series paper in Soft Succulent and stamped the sentiment onto this piece of DSP and cut the right and left sides of the sentiment label at an angle. A slightly larger piece of Orchid Oasis cardstock was matted behind the sentiment label and I used my paper snips to cut the same angles on the right and left of the mat. The sentiment label was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was placed towards the upper right of the card front. A small double bow tied from Orchid Oasis Metallic Woven Ribbon was adhered just under the sentiment label using a Mini Glue Dot.

For the inside panel, I stamped a single flower in Orchid Oasis and colored in the flower center with a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend. The panel was then adhered to the inside of the card. The same flower was stamped onto the envelope front. A piece of coordinating designer series paper was added to the envelope flap and I trimmed the excess paper away from the flap.

To finish off the card I added some Iridescent Pastel Gems…these are gorgeous by the way!

Now that we’re in the grip of winter (it is currently 8 degrees as I’m typing this!) it makes me happy to be working with pretty spring flower images. Spring will be here before you know it!
