Stampin’ Up! Sending Smiles Thinking of You Card

The Sending Smiles Stamp Set and Sending Dies combined with the texture that the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder provides makes for a cheerful and uplifting card!

I started with a Thick Basic White cardstock card base. A Basic White panel was embossed using the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder and this panel was adhered to a Real Red mat, then this unit was adhered to the card front.

Using scraps of white cardstock I stamped multiple flowers in Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red inks and multiple flower stems were stamped in Mossy Meadow and Old Olive.

The large “Sending” sentiment was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink and die cut using the coordinating die from the Sending Dies set. The sentiment label was adhered to the top left of the embossed panel. The flowers were adhered to their stems, and I played around with the arrangement of the flowers on the card front. Once I was satisfied with the arrangement, I adhered the flowers to the embossed panel. One of the Daisey flowers was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The additional sentiment “Sunshine to brighten your day” was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink and die cut using the coordinating die from the Sending Dies set. The sentiment label was adhered over the flower stems at the bottom right of the embossed panel.

The smaller flowers and their stems were stamped on the inside panel as well as the envelope front. I used the multi-flower stamp to stamp these smaller flowers across the envelope flap to finish off the card.

I love the cheerfulness and upbeat feel of the images in the Sending Smiles Set!

Sending Smiles Flower Garden with Watercolor Pencils / Last Chance & Retiring Products Beginning June 1

Sending smiles flower garden with watercolor pencils

I realize that not everyone enjoys coloring or enhancing stamped images, but I love it! If you’re like me, you’ll enjoy today’s card project. Of course, the stamped images are lovely on their own if this is not your thing.

I used Stampin’ Up! watercolor pencils to enhance the stamped images for the flowers and leaves on this card. I used the pencils as “pencils” and did not apply any water. As someone who enjoys sketching and watercolor painting, I love to add a touch of realism to images! I can’t help myself!

I paired the Polished Pink card base with a piece of Evening Evergreen paper from the 2021-2023 In Color DSP. Stamped and die cut flowers, leaves and sentiment were added to the card front to resemble a flower bed. Such happy flowers in the Sending Smiles set!

In my project sheet for this card I provide you with some tips on using pencils to enhance images (applies to colored pencils as well as watercolor pencils). I hope you’ll give this technique a try. The results are well worth it!

Perfectly Penciled Encouragement Card / My New Favorite Tool – Magnetic Cutting Plate / June Paper Pumpkin Kit – Pick of the Crop

Perfectly penciled encouragement card

This card uses the Perfectly Penciled 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper along with the Sending Smiles Bundle. The paper in the Perfectly Penciled DSP pack is all in black and white. You can choose to leave the paper as is, or color in the images, or color in only the background. I chose to color in these flowers on this paper using a variety of Stampin’ Blends. The Blends I used are mostly softer colors, with a bright and bold pop of Sweet Sorbet, which is one of the new 2022-2024 In Colors. I love the pop of red on this card! I even colored a piece of the DSP for the envelope flap.

Not to be overshadowed by this beautiful DSP, the Sending Smiles Bundle includes a variety of sentiments and flower images that can be stamped and die cut, including two banner dies to cut out the smaller font greetings. It’s a great set which I’ll be using more of in the future. You can find both the Perfectly Penciled DSP and the Sending Smiles Bundle in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.

You can view the project sheet for this card by clicking on the icon below.

my new favorite tool – magnetic cutting plate

If you’re like me, you love to die cut images for your cards! Stampin’ Up! released the newly designed Magnetic Cutting Plate in the new Annual Catalog and it’s fantastic! When die cutting stamped images I would use Washi tape to hold the dies in place while die cutting. No more! The new Magnetic Cutting Plate holds your dies in place while cutting and works beautifully.

The Magnetic Cutting Plate is a thin, fully magnetic sheet with a self-healing cutting surface. The Magnetic Cutting Plate (Plate 5) holds dies securely in place, even nested dies. This slim, portable sheet replaces a Cutting Plate in your sandwich. The plate is currently available for the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine but is not available yet for the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Stampin’ Up! is working on a magnetic plate for the Mini and it will hopefully be released in the near future. Note: Be aware that the sandwich instructions that come with the plate are incorrect. Stampin’ Up! is aware of this issue and is working on correcting the instructions that come with the plate. The correct sandwhich is Plate #1 (Base Plate), Plate #5 (Magnetic Cutting Plate), and Plate #3 (Cutting Plate).

Click below if you’re interested in checking out the Magnetic Cutting Plate for use with your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
