Today’s card was created using the Peaceful Deer Stamp Set, Reindeer Dies and some ink blending! This is a fun winter scene complete with moon beams and big, fat snowflakes…you know, the kind that fall from the sky just before the snow fall ends!
I can’t take credit for the moon beam idea as I saw this shared on a social media platform, but credit was not given to the original creator, so credit goes to whoever thought of this!
I started off with a white panel and used scissors to cut a gentle snow “hill” into a straight piece of masking paper then adhered this towards the bottom of the card – about 2/3 of the way down. I used a second piece of masking paper with a straight edge and positioned it in the upper right corner and angled it to the left to create the first moon beam. I used a blending brush and first blended Balmy Blue ink in the unmasked area, then came back in with Starry Sky ink and concentrated this ink around the edge of the masking paper. I repositioned the piece of masking paper, keeping the right side tight to the top right of the panel and dropping the left side about 3/4″ below the first inked area and repeated the ink blending steps until the top portion of the panel was covered with moon beams!

Next, I used white pigment ink and a small amount of water and dropped in snowflakes onto the sky. The little bit of water mixed with the pigment ink reacted with the Starry Sky ink and caused the snowflakes to spread slightly. I rather like this look as it reminds me of big fluffy snowflakes!
The masking paper covering the snow hill was removed and I lightly blended Starry Sky ink across the top of the snow hill. I used the same piece of masking paper for the snow hill and flipped it upside down and created a second snow hill below the first – blending ink on this hill and making this one darker than the first.
I die cut two pine trees in Evening Evergreen cardstock from the Reindeer Dies set and cut one of the trees down by about half. The pine trees were adhered to the card front as was a die cut reindeer in Early Espresso. I used white pigment ink and painted the ink across the top of the reindeer to give the impression of the moon shining off of him. The pine trees also were painted with white ink to give the impression of snow. The reindeer was also adhered to the card front.
I stamped the sentiment for the front of the card onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock and die cut using the 3rd smallest die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set. (If you don’t own this die set…you really should get it…it comes in so handy!) The sentiment label was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The panel was then adhered to a mat in Starry Sky then this unit was adhered to the card front.
An additional sentiment was stamped on the inside of the card as was the pine tree image from the Peaceful Deer stamp set. The same pine tree image was also stamped onto the envelope front and envelope flap. Rhinestone Basic Jewels were adhered to the card front to finish off the card.
