Stampin’ Up! Desert Details New Adventure Card

Today’s card was created using the Desert Details Bundle and the background of the card was created using Stampin’ Up! watercolor pencils on Shimmery White cardstock.

If you have visited the Desert Southwest in the United States, then you might appreciate this card. The watercolor background very much reminds me of a woven Navajo blanket. The Calypso Coral is reminiscent of the red rock formations and the Coastal Cabana looks like turquoise! My trip to the Southwest and the Grand Canyon was one of the most memorable trips ever!

I started with a panel of Shimmery White cardstock and scribbled Coastal Cabana watercolor pencil then Calypso Coral watercolor pencil across the surface. I then used a Water Painter to dampen and dissolve the watercolor pencil. I did not press hard with the pencils as I wanted the background to stay light so that the other elements of the card would pop!

The watercolored panel was adhered to a mat in Calypso Coral and this unit was then adhered to a card front in Coastal Cabana.

I used the two frame dies from the Desert Details Dies set to cut out a frame in Calypso Coral. The medallion die was used to cut out a medallion in Coastal Cabana. Both the frame and medallion were adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and both were centered on the card.

On the inside panel I used the border stamp from the Desert Details Stamp Set and stamped the decorative border down the right side of the panel in Calypso Coral ink. A sentiment was also stamped in Calypso Coral ink. The panel was adhered to a mat in Calypso Coral then adhered to the inside of the card.

For the envelope, I second generation stamped the small desert flower onto the envelope front and envelope flap. Lastly, Iridescent Pastel Gems in Calypso Coral were added to the card front – one small gem for each of the points on the frame and a larger gem was added to the center of the medallion.

Stampin’ Up! Desert Details Friendship Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy New Year! It’s Thursday and time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! Are you ready to hop around and see some great projects?

I created my card for today using the Desert Details Stamp Set, Desert Details Dies and the gorgeous Dry Brushed Metallic 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper. And, this paper is truly gorgeous! As of today, these products are now available for customer orders from the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog! Yay!

The theme for today’s hop is a sketch challenge!

I started off with a card base in Soft Succulent measuring 11″ x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2″. Usually, this card cut is presented as a top fold easel card, but I chose to turn my card base to landscape for a different look. I used a panel of the Dry Brushed Metallic 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper and matted this panel to a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock. The specialty paper is in soft succulent, blue and copper and so, so pretty! The panel was then adhered to the card front.

Next, I stamped the large desert flower from the Desert Details Stamp Set in Soft Succulent onto a piece of white cardstock. I used Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends to shade all of the white areas on the flower, then used a Stampin’ Blend Color Lifter to smooth the color out. I then used Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends to deepen the shadows on the flower blossom. The stamped flower image was die cut using the coordinating die from the Desert Details Dies set and I also cut a grass from Soft Succulent cardstock.

The die cut grass was partially adhered to the back of the flower. A short length of Pale Papaya Faux Velvet Trim was also adhered to the back of the flower. The grass sits at the top of the flower and is angled to the right of the flower and the trim is angled slightly to the left. I adhered these pieces to the flower first to assist with dimensional placement. I placed Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the flower unit, then adhered this unit to the card front, placing it towards the middle right.

I used a sentiment label in Soft Succulent and stamped a sentiment from the Desert Details Stamp Set in Soft Succulent ink. The sentiment label was then adhered to a mat in Pale Papaya then added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment label sits slightly over the bottom of the flower and overhangs the metallic panel on the right.

On the inside panel I stamped the same large desert flower towards the bottom of the panel in Soft Succulent ink and used the same Stampin’ Blends to color the flower. The panel was then adhered to a Pale Papaya mat and this unit was adhered to the inside of the card.

The same flower was stamped onto the envelope front and colored and a piece of coordinating Dry Brushed Metallic Specialty Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap. I trimmed the excess paper away from the flap to finish off the envelope.

Several Calypso Coral Iridescent Pastel Gems were added to the card front to complete the card! I think the Dry Brushed Metallic Specialty Designer Series Paper adds an extra “something” to the card.

Stampin’ Up! Desert Details Thinking of You Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop – Sneak Peek!

It’s Thursday and time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop and lots of great inspiration!

I used the Desert Details Stamp Set, Desert Details Dies, and the beautiful Delicate Desert 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper to create my card for today’s hop. These items will be available in the upcoming January-April 2023 Mini Catalog.

We have a sketch challenge for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop today.

I started off with a card base in Gray Granite and added a mat in Calypso Coral cardstock measuring 5-1/2″ x 3-1/2″. A DSP panel cut from the Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper measuring 5-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ was added on top of the Calypso Coral mat, leaving a 1/8″ reveal across the top and bottom of the panel. This unit was then adhered to the card front.

A sentiment from the Desert Details Stamp Set was stamped onto a white sentiment label measuring 4-1/2″ x 3/4″ in Calypso Coral ink. The small and large flower image were stamped onto white cardstock – also in Calypso Coral ink – and cut using the coordinating dies from the Desert Details Dies set.

The decorative strip die was cut from Calypso Coral cardstock and adhered across the card front approximately 1″ from the bottom of the card base. The sentiment label was added using Stampin’ Dimensionals and was placed over the decorative strip. The die cut flowers were also adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the bottoms of the flowers were slightly overlapped and tucked under the sentiment label.

I used Gold Faceted Adhesive-Backed Sequins (also coming in the new January-April 2023 Mini Catalog) and adhered two of the crescent moon shaped sequins to the flower centers and several of the small round sequins to the card front. A small round sequin was also added to the sentiment label.

On the inside panel a strip of coordinating designer series paper was added across the bottom of the panel, and I stamped an additional sentiment from the Desert Details Stamp Set onto the panel. The panel was added to a mat in Calypso Coral then adhered to the inside of the card.

The large flower from the Desert Details Stamp Set was stamped onto the lower left corner of the envelope front in Calypso Coral ink. A piece of coordinating designer series paper was added to the envelope flap and I trimmed around the flap to finish off the envelope.

The Desert Details Bundle and Delicate Desert 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper would be beautiful additions to your crafting stash.
