Stampin’ Up! Cottage Rose Whitewash Best Wishes Card – A CASE from the Annual Catalog!

I wasn’t sure what I was going to make for today’s card so I took a little stroll through the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalog and found this pretty card using the Cottage Rose Stamp Set and Cottage Flowers Dies! I used some of the pretty Vellum Basics 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper for the vellum strip and instead of a single die cut flower – I went with the double flower. So pretty and the whitewash technique is easy!

Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink I stamped the large rose and leaf image onto a Smoky Slate panel four times, making sure to turn the stamp each time. I used the light shade of an Old Olive Stampin’ Blend to color in all of the leaves and the light shade of a Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend to color in the tiny flowers. Next came the fun part! I used a Blender Pen to color in white pigment ink onto all areas of each flower petal where there were no stamped lines. Once the white ink dried, I reapplied some of the ink on the tips of the flowers as this ink dries much lighter.

I added a 1-1/4″ strip of the Vellum Basics 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper to the center of the card. Before adhering this strip down I determined the placement of my sentiment label first and only applied glue to the vellum where the sentiment label would hide the adhesive. Glue shows through vellum! I added very small pin drops of glue on the right and left side of the vellum to secure the edges. The panel was then adhered to the card front.

From white cardstock, I die cut the double, open flower image using the Cottage Flowers Dies. After trimming the stems of the flowers, I adhered them to the center of the card, then adhered the sentiment label using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bottom edge of the sentiment label was positioned slightly below the bottom edge of the vellum strip.

On the inside panel the large rose and leaf image was partially stamped onto the lower left using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then adhered the panel to a Smoky Slate mat and this unit was adhered to the inside of the card.

The same large rose and leaf image was stamped onto the envelope front and the smaller rose image from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set was used to stamp onto the envelope flap.

Stampin’ Up! Cottage Rose Thank You Card

The beautiful Cottage Rose Stamp Set and Abigail Rose 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper makes for some beautiful cards!

I chose the large floral print paper from the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper pack and colored in the image using a variety of Stampin’ Blends, then fussy cut around the image.

For the card front, I chose a leaf pattern piece of paper from the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper pack and wrapped a piece of Natural Woven Ribbon around the bottom third of the panel and secured the ends to the back of the panel. The DSP panel was then adhered to a Calypso Coral card base. The fussy cut flower bouquet was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and slightly overhangs the ribbon.

I used a slender piece of Very Vanilla cardstock for the sentiment label and stamped the sentiment to the far right of the label, then adhered the label across the top of the fussy cut flowers and just above the ribbon band. I used a length of Natural Woven Ribbon to tie a bow and the bow was attached to the sentiment label on the left at an angle. Several Brushed Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots were added to the card front.

An additional sentiment was stamped in Calypso Coral ink on the inside panel. The leaf image from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set was stamped in Memento ink onto the lower portion of the panel and colored in using Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. The panel was then adhered to the inside of the card.

For the envelope I stamped the same leaf image on the lower left of the envelope front and colored in. A piece of coordinating designer series paper was added to the envelope flap, and I trimmed around the flap to finish off the envelope.

Gorgeous paper and images! This is a great set for making birthday cards, thinking of you cards and friendship cards, too!

Stampin’ Up! Cottage Rose Get Well Card

I used the Cottage Rose Stamp Set, Cottage Flowers Dies and the beautiful Abigail Rose 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper to make this pretty get-well card. This card is a CAS (Create & Share) from the May 2022-April 2023 Annual Catalog although I changed things up a bit.

A piece of the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper in a Petal Pink stripe print was adhered to a card base in Smoky Slate. I stamped the sentiment “feel better real soon” from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set onto a second piece of Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper in a Smoky Slate leaf print using Early Espresso ink.

Using the largest die from the Cottage Flowers Dies set, I die cut flower pieces in Basic White cardstock. All of the die cut pieces were not used. I selected the largest flower piece, two medium sized flower pieces and one small flower piece along with the stem and leaves piece to construct a flower. The flower pieces and stem were colored using Stampin’ Blends in Petal Pink and Crumb Cake then adhered together to create the 3D flower that adorns the card front. The flower was adhered to the Smoky Slate leaf print piece of DSP, just to the right of the stamped sentiment.

A piece of linen thread was wrapped around the DSP panel and adhered to the back using Stampin’ Seal. Using another length of linen thread, I tied a bow and adhered the bow just under the flower using a Mini Glue Dot. The DSP panel was adhered to the card front.

The largest flower image from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set was partially stamped on the inside panel in Smoky Slate ink and adhered to the inside of the card. This same image was stamped onto the envelope front.

A piece of coordinating paper from the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper was adhered to the envelope flap and I trimmed around the flap to finish off the envelope. Several Iridescent Pearls were adhered to the card front to complete the card.

This card design makes a lovely get-well card but would also make a great birthday, sympathy or anniversary card, too! I hope you’ll give it a try!

Pretty Cottage Rose Bouquet / Grab Your Stampin’ Up! Swag!

pretty cottage rose bouquet

When I first used the Cottage Flowers die set, I noticed a large die that cut out all of the pieces for a flower bouquet – flowers, stems and leaves. I wondered how I might use this die. This die will cut out all of these images on one of the papers from the Abigail Rose 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper, but I wanted to create something different using this die. This is what I came up with. I used the negative of the die cut to help arrange the pieces onto an Evening Evergreen panel. I think the Pale Papaya flowers and Soft Succulent stems and leaves create a soft, pretty bouquet against this dark background!

Each of the flowers, stems and leaves were colored using Stampin’ Blends. On the flowers, I used the darker shade of Pale Papaya to give the suggestion of the rose “bowl” and petal edges for a soft look. A sentiment stamped in Evening Evergreen on a Pale Papaya label was added, along with a strip of Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon and a few Heart Pearls…giving this card a romantic look.

Another use of this large bouquet die is to cut out all of the pieces and arrange any way you’d like! This one die in the Cottage Flowers Die set has multiple uses!

Cottage Rose Get Well Card / Joining Promotion for May

Cottage Rose get well card

The beautiful Cottage Rose Suite makes the most romantic looking cards. The color palette is on the warm side…my favorite!

Several of the images from the collection were stamped, die cut and colored using Stampin’ Blends. I then used a piece of DSP from the Abigail Rose 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper pack as the card background and added a strip of Calypso Coral over the DSP. Calypso Coral is not one of the “coordinating” colors with this DSP, but I think it’s a great compliment to the Petal Pink in the DSP. I added a small sentiment and some of the new Natural Finish Ribbon to complete the card.

Did you know that you can stamp directly onto the Natural Finish Ribbon? The ribbon is nearly an inch wide! I didn’t do any ribbon stamping on this card but will in a future project. This ribbon has a soft feel to it and frays nicely for a different look. As quilting is one of my creative outlets, I love to feel the texture of fabric, including ribbon. Fabric stores are one of my favorite kinds of stores and I love feeling all of the soft, smooth fabric. All quilters out there know what I’m talking about (insert BIG smile)!

You view, download and print instructions for this project by clicking on the icon below.

I highly recommend that you add the Cottage Rose collection to your cardmaking stash!
