Eden’s Garden Card Project / Don’t Forget to Check Out Sale-A-Bration

Eden’s Garden in Red & White

As promised here is an Eden’s Garden card project using the Eden’s Garden Bundle! I would have posted this card yesterday but let’s just say that it wasn’t meant to be…it seems that I may or may not have used the wrong stamp set when originally making the card and had to start all over! Ugh! It happens.

This card is very striking in all red and white. Unfortunately, the photo does not do it justice. I used a generic greeting on this card but this would make an awesome Valentine’s Day card.

You can find directions for making this card by clicking here.

Happy Monday and have an amazing week!

Daffodil Daydreams Bundle / The Best Stampin’ Up! Tool to Own IMHO / Paper Pumpkin Reminder

Daffodil Daydreams Bundle

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Daffodil Daydream Bundle. To me daffodils represent spring! When the daffodils start popping up in March (at least in my neck of the woods) I know spring is on its way and with that, warmer temperatures.

This bundled set can do it all – whether you want to craft a card for Mother’s Day, put together Easter treat packages, or design a springtime scrapbook page, you’ll find something to create and celebrate with these delightful daffodils!

If you purchase the Daffodil Daydream stamp set and the Daffodil Dies together you save 10%. There’s more…if you purchase the bundle between now and February 28, you can receive the Daffodil Afternoon 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper for FREE through Sale-A-Bration! I’ll be receiving my DSP for free! 🙂 If you purchase the Daffodil Daydream bundle you’ll qualify for a free gift from me also! When ordering through my online store use the current host code which you can find on my Shop My Stampin’ Up! Store page and place an order of at least $25 and you’ll be able to choose a gift from any current catalog valued at $5.

I’ll be highlighting a project soon with this bundle so keep a look out. Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to order this bundle or click below to go to my online store. I would love to be your Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. Until then, happy Daffodil Daydreams!

The Best Stampin’ Up! Tool to Own IMHO

All of the Stampin’ Up products are great and make our crafting lives easier but there is one tool in particular that I absolutely love. The paper trimmer (Item No. 152392).

I don’t know about you but when I’m crafting I have my desk absolutely covered with everything I need…paper, scissors, bone folder, stamp sets, ink pads, die cutting machine, etc., etc. I love that I can eliminate a large scoring board from my work surface and have one paper trimmer that can handle both functions. The paper trimmer includes both a cutting and scoring blade! The trimmer can also cut 12″ x 12″ pieces of DSP, has an extra-wide cutting base and an extendable 17″ ruler.

Sounds goofy, I know, but it’s the little things in life that count!

Paper Pumpkin Reminder

The January Kisses & Hugs Paper Pumpkin kit must be ordered no later than January 10 so don’t delay! Everything you need to start crafting is included in the kit. The kit comes with enough supplies to make 10 cards – 5 each of two designs and coordinating envelopes are included. You will also receive an exclusive stamp set and a Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ Spot. The cards are heart shaped!

You’ll also be able to purchase a coordinating add-on – the Kisses & Hugs Mini Treat Boxes, Item No. 160147, for $10. You’ll receive 20 mini treat boxes (1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″), gold cord and the boxes are printed with gold foil. Who wouldn’t want to receive one of these special boxes? To purchase this add-on, you must be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber and the add-on can be purchased beginning on January 25.

New Paper Pumpkin kits are released each month. You can subscribe to Paper Pumpkin and pay-as-you-go or sign up for prepaid subscriptions. To sign up for a Paper Pumpkin subscription, click here.

Getting Organized / Technique Thursday: Fussy Cutting / Introducing the All Together Collection

getting organized

As I’m a fairly new Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I’ve been thinking about the best direction for my business – Inky Bee Stampers. For starters, I’m focused on providing blog posts to you, my audience, on a regular basis to let you know about all of the great products Stampin’ Up! has to offer and how to earn free products (and hopefully entice you to purchase some of these products and find out for yourself how great they are!). I’m also focused on providing you with content that you’ll find value in, such as card projects that you can re-create, as well as techniques you can use to really make your projects pop! Today’s project for the Catching Butterflies card (shown below) highlights fussy cutting. My plan is to continue to provide these types of projects in hopes that it will help you build your cardmaking skills…and build my skill level at the same time!

As I settle into a routine and get myself organized, I’ll be adding additional content that I hope you find helpful. For today’s project, for example, I’ve included a project instruction document link to a pdf that you can print out if you would like. Other things you can look for from me in the not-too-distant-future include Paper Shares, Virtual Workshops (for now), and Facebook Live events where I’ll highlight upcoming products and share projects and techniques.

I look to you to let me know what you would like to see, so feel free to leave me comments on my blog posts or contact me via email. Of course, I’m happy to answer any questions you might have related to Stampin’ Up. You can use the Contact button on this site or email me directly at inkybeestampers@gmail.com.

Technique Thursday: Fussy Cutting

This card was made from the Catching Butterflies stamp set which you can earn FREE from the Sale-A-Bration catalog by placing an order which totals $50 or more. This whimsical image is sure to make the card recipient smile from ear to ear! This stamp set would be great to use for a little girl’s birthday party invitations, a birthday greeting (for anyone) or for thank you/thinking of your cards.

The card features a cut out window and Designer Series Paper was used on the front of the card. If you look closely, though, the little girl’s dress matches the Designer paper! Yes, I fussy cut the dress to match the front of the card. This technique is not hard and only requires a little patience…LOL. I stamped the image of the little girl onto a piece of the Designer Series Paper then carefully cut out only the dress. HINT: When fussy cutting be sure to use small, sharp paper snips and when turning corners, move the paper and not your scissors…this will give you a much smoother cut and makes turning corners a lot easier!

Click on the image below to access the project sheet for this card. Happy fussy cutting!

Introducing the all together collection

I’m excited to be sharing the All Together Collection with you! Loving hands and heartfelt words are the best way to show you care. With hand designs that illustrate coming together in friendship and solidarity, the All Together Collection will help you create cardmaking and paper crafting projects that reflect the people you know and love.  With this collection, Stampin’ Up! is releasing the Natural Tones Blends which I’m most excited about! These blends can be used in any combination to create the desired skin tone. I’m also really digging the Designer Series Paper too!

The All Together Collection includes early-release products from the 2022–2023 Annual Catalog—an exciting new range of natural Stampin’ Blends—and exclusive products you can’t get anywhere else! This early release collection will be open to customers beginning on February 1 and sales will run through May 2, 2022. I’ll remind you again as the date draws closer. For now, take a look at the All Together Collection video to learn about the products that are being offered in this collection.

Quiet Meadow Card Project

I mentioned previously that my husband surprised me with the Quiet Meadow bundle for Christmas (stamp set and dies). I found a beautiful “recipe” using this bundle on the Demonstrator site and wanted to share with you.

  • This is a standard note card using Evening Evergreen for the card base, Soft Succulent for the card front, and a piece of Basic White cardstock for the inside greeting.
  • I first stamped the flower image from the stamp set on the Soft Succulent card front twice using Soft Succulent ink.
  • I then stamped the dots and the sentiment using VersaMark and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set the embossing powder.
  • I cut two of the flowers from the Quiet Meadow dies in Soft Succulent cardstock and used Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends to color the stems of the flowers and Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends to color the flower petals – using the darker Soft Succulent to create darker centers and shadows on the petals.
  • I then arranged the die cut flowers on the front of the card and used glue to adhere to the card front. I trimmed the stem of one of the die cut flowers so it wouldn’t be quite so long.
  • For the sentiment I used the Everyday label punch and cut one from Basic White cardstock and one from Evening Evergreen cardstock. The Evening Evergreen piece was cut in half and glued to either side of the white label. I then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the greeting.
  • Finally, I added a double bow to the left of the greeting using Mossy Meadow twine and added a Bee trinket above the greeting.

I think this card turned out super cute! Here are the cutting instructions along with a list of products used.

Cardstock Measurements:
  • Card Base – Cut one piece of Evening Evergreen to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″
  • Front of Card – Cut one piece of Soft Succulent card stock to 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
  • Inside Greeting – Cut one piece of Basic White cardstock to 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
All products used can be found in the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalog:
  • Quiet Meadow/Meadow Dies Bundle, page 110
  • Soft Succulent, Basic White, and Evening Evergreen Cardstock, page 123
  • Soft Succulent and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends, pages 122 and 123
  • Soft Succulent Stampin’ Ink Pad, page 123
  • Bumblebee Trinket, page 141
  • Mossy Meadow Twine, NA
  • Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, page 128
  • Everyday Label Punh, page 150
  • Pansy Patch Stamp Set (used for the sentiment), page 29

While We’re Waiting…Meet the Westies

While we’re waiting for the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration to launch on January 4th, I thought I’d introduce our two Westies – Maezie and Mackenzie! They’re cute, energetic and spoiled rotten…and true terriers! This pair keeps us entertained 24/7. Maezie will soon turn 4 and Mackenzie recently turned 8. Mackenzie, the senior of the two is very reserved, but a very sweet girl. Maezie still has her energetic youth, loves to smile and is generally our “happy” girl. Both love to chase the ball (and squirrels and rabbits) outside, enjoy treats and will roll over for belly rubs! Love these girls!

Look for more content tomorrow related to Stampin’ Up!. I’m working on another Quiet Meadow design…so stay tuned.

Yours in crafting,

Carol

Happy New Year!

Happy 2022! I hope everyone had a great time ringing in the New Year. Me and my family celebrated the new year relaxing at home with the Westies. May 2022 bring you friendship, good health and plenty of love!

Quiet Meadow Bundle

My husband surprised me with the Quiet Meadow bundle for Christmas! There are so many possibilities for this bundle and the bundle can be used to create birthday, thank you, sympathy, and thinking of you cards…and more. The die cutouts can also be used to decorate a wrapped gift…so pretty and delicate!

Here is a card I made using the Quiet Meadow bundle. If you’re interested in purchasing this bundle you can visit my Shop My Stanpin’ Up! Store page. When you purchase the stamp set and dies together you receive 10% off. You can find the bundle on page 110 of the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalog – Item No. 155847.

What will you create with the Quiet Meadow bundle? Let me know in the comments!

Pansy Petals Easy Side-step Card and 4 Days and Counting!

PANSY PETALS EASY SIDE-STEP CARD

I CASE’d the fold for this easy side-step card from Julie Davison…thank you, Julie! I liked this card fold for its simplicity. The cuts and scores for a traditional side-step card can be complicated…and confusing! This card was made from the Pansy Patch Bundle and the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper as well as a Bumblebee trinket. You can find this suite in the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalog.

The card base was cut from Pale Papaya cardstock. DSP from the suite was used to cover the three front panels. I used Fresh Freesia to cut out the pansy and the pansy bud in the foreground and used Evening Evergreen for the bud stem. I applied Fresh Freesia ink to darken the cardstock in certain areas for the pansies. The two pansies in the background were cut from the DSP using dies from the suite. The leaves were also cut from a piece of the DSP (how cool is it that you can use the dies to cut out shapes from the DSP?!). I used the Label Me Lovely punch (also from the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalog) for the sentiment in basic white and then again in Evening Evergreen for a shadow layer underneath. This particular card is for a birthday but could be used for Easter, a get well wish, thinking of you, etc. I think it’s so bright and cheerful!

  • Card Base: Cut to 5-1/2″ x 8″, then scored at 3″, 6″ and 7″
  • Side Step: Cut to 3″ x 6″, then score at 4-1/4″
  • Designer Series Paper: Cut one at 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ (for the front “step” on the card base), one at 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ (for the card “front”) and one at 4″ x 2-3/4″ (for the front of the “side-step).
  • Cardstock for inside sentiment is cut to 2-3/4″ x 4″
  • Optional cardstock for back of card: Cut to 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″

HINT – When adhering the side-step to the card base, close the card base and adhere the side-step to the small step on the card base front first. Then, adhere the back of the side-step piece to the back of the card base…you will only glue about a 1/2″ of the side-step to the back of the card. Check placement before adhering!

4 DAYS AND COUNTING!
