Stampin’ Up! Frangrant Flowers Thank You Card Using the Whitewash Technique

I used the Fragrant Flowers Stamp Set, Favored Flowers 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and some white pigment ink to create today’s card. I love the richness of the Blackberry Bliss and Rich Razzleberry cardstocks with the designer series paper and the focal flowers on the front of the card really pop using the whitewash technique!

The Fragrant Flowers Stamp Set comes in either cling or photopolymer stamps so if you’re ordering either just the stamp set or the bundle be sure to capture the correct item number! You can find the stamp set and bundle in the Jan-Apr 2023 Mini Catalog. You can earn the Favored Flowers 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper for free with a qualifying $50 order during Sale-A-Bration…but don’t delay…Sale-A-Bration ends in just a few weeks!

I started off by adhering a panel of the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper in Fresh Freesia and Blackberry Bliss coloring to a card base in Blackberry Bliss.

On a Rich Razzleberry panel I stamped the large flower image from the Fragrant Flowers Stamp Set in Blackberry Bliss ink. I placed a few drops of white pigment ink onto a stamp block and used a blender pen to highlight the stamped image with white ink wherever light would be hitting the image. I focused primarily on the petal tips and the outside areas of the leaves. Where the stamped image showed deep shadow, I made sure to avoid applying white ink to these areas. Because the white ink dries much lighter, I applied several layers of the ink to the stamped image. Once I was finished applying the white ink, I came back with the dark shade of a Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blend and deepened some of the darkest shadows.

The painted panel was die cut using the second to largest die from the Deckled Rectangled Dies set and matted to a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. This unit was then adhered to the card front in the upper left-hand corner.

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut a banner end on the right side of the sentiment label. The sentiment label was adhered to the lower right of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. A triple bow in Linen Thread was added to the upper left of the sentiment label using a Mini Glue Dot.

On the inside panel the large floral image was partially stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink onto the lower left corner. The panel was then adhered to a mat in Rich Razzleberry and this unit was adhered to the inside of the card.

The large floral image was again stamped onto the envelope front in Blackberry Bliss ink. A coordinating piece of designer series paper was adhered to the envelope flap, and I trimmed the excess paper away from the flap with my paper snips. I added several Flat Adhesive-backed Pearls to the card front. The pearls really pick up the deep color of the Rich Razzleberry cardstock!

The whitewash technique is not necessarily a quick process, but I feel it is so worth it! The flowers really pop on the card front using this technique! I hope you’ll give it a try!

Wishing you a great weekend! Enjoy!
