Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Delivery Slimline Easel Card

“On Dasher, on Dancer on Prancer and Vixen. On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen!” The jolly man in red is busy this time of year making toys for all of the good girls and boys and he’s taking the Santa Express and headed your way soon!  A penguin and one of Santa’s reindeer came along for the ride…I think it’s Blitzen, or is it Donnor or Cupid?

The Santa’s Delivery Stamp Set, Santa’s Train Dies, and the Santa Express 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper are so much fun! These are must-have items if you have small children, grandchildren or if you know any “adult” children that still love Santa! And this slimline easel card really shows off Santa’s train. The card fold is a CAS from my team member, Mary. Thanks, Mary!

I started with a card base in Granny Apple Green which is one of the coordinating colors in the Santa Express Designer Series Paper. I used a piece of paper from the pack to provide the background for Santa’s train and this was adhered to a mat in Poppy Parade (another coordinating color). Another piece of paper from the pack was used to die cut the train engine and train cars! You heard correctly! There are coordinating dies in the Santa’s Train Dies set that cut out the train pieces from the designer series paper! How cool is that! I love when Stampin’ Up! gives us these options!

I die cut the train track using Silver Foil 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper and adhered the track to the background panel. Santa’s train was die cut and adhered to the background panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped a penguin, steam clouds, and the sign in Memento ink, then colored with Stampin’ Blends. These pieces were die cut using coordinating dies and adhered to the background. The background panel was then adhered to the card front and I made sure to only adhere this panel to the easel portion of the card front.

For the inside of the card, I stamped “Merry Christmas” on a white panel in Poppy Parade ink, then stamped “Ho ho ho” in Granny Apple Green ink on either side of the sentiment. The panel was adhered to a mat in Poppy Parade and this unit was then adhered to the inside of the card base.

On a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock, I stamped the sentiment “Special Delivery just for you” in VersaMark ink then sprinkled white embossing powder over the sentiment and heat set using my heat tool. The sentiment label was die cut using the largest banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set. The sentiment label was adhered to the inside of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals and acts as the “stop” for the easel portion of the card.

The slimline envelope front was decorated with the image of the penguin and sign and the envelope flap was decorated with a piece of coordinating designer series paper. Such fun!

Easel cards make great “display” cards and I know a few youngsters who would be thrilled to receive this card at Christmas time!
