Uniquely Artistic Congratulations Card – All Squared Up

So what happens if you paint a watercolor panel and you’re not happy with how some of it looks? Easy! You die cut the portion that you like and make it into a card! Like yesterday’s card, I used the wet-in-wet watercolor technique to drop in three of the new In Colors onto a piece of watercolor paper. I figured since I had everything out I might as well paint two panels instead of just one!

Dropping color onto a very wet watercolor panel creates some interesting results. I made some very basic shapes on the panel and allowed the watercolor paper to dry. I then created a few masks for the flower image from the Uniquely Artistic stamp set using PostIt Notes then cut out the flowers. I laid the fussy cut flowers onto the areas of Sweet Sorbet on the watercolor panel, then stamped the large open-leaf image from the stamp set in Parakeet Party ink over the painted area of Parakeet Party on the watercolor panel. I removed the masks for the flowers, then stamped the flowers over the Sweet Sorbet areas on the watercolor panel in Sweet Sorbet ink. The image was die cut using the Stylish Shapes Dies and matted with black and white. The sentiment label was also die cut using Stylish Shapes Dies and matted with black.

I used a Sweet Sorbet card base, a white mat, and a piece of paper from the 2022-2024 In Color DSP pack. The matted watercolor square and sentiment were staggered on the card front, and I completed the card with a double twine bow. The contrast between the bright In Colors and the black mats makes a striking statement.
