Friday Fun Day! Gift Card Holder

Happy Friday! Today’s project is a gift card holder. I used the beautiful Heart & Home designer series paper, a few die cuts from the Flowers of Home dies, the Hive 3D Embossing Folder and the Layering Circles dies to complete the project.

The design of the card is neutral enough to gift to either a man or woman and the gift card was very quick to assemble! You can use the card for a high school or college graduate, a birthday, or just because to recognize that someone special.

Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter!

Wisteria Wishes Sneak Peek / Special Share Hope Paper Pumpkin Offer

Wisteria Wishes sneak peek

Here is a sneak peek at the Wisteria Wishes stamp set and dies, along with two of the beautiful 2022-2024 In Colors – Orchid Oasis and Parakeet Party! I also used the Stylish Shapes Dies and 2022-2024 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper on this card. These products will be available to customers on May 3 in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. I can’t wait for you to see these products up close!

As usual my photography skills (or my laptop monitor) aren’t showing the true colors. The Parakeet Party is close, but the Orchid Oasis is showing darker than it actually is. I would describe Orchid Oasis as a purplish-blue – along the lines of a periwinkle. It is one of my favorite all time colors.

I first and second generation stamped the wisteria flowers which provided dimension. The vein details on the wisteria vine die cut is amazing! The In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP is awesome! And the metallic woven ribbon is beautiful. I’m running out of adjectives…suffice it to say that I really enjoyed playing with my new goodies!

Part of our mission at Stampin’ Up! is to make a positive difference in people’s lives. We all have the desire and intention to share positivity and hope, but we sometimes need motivation or a reason to get started. Wait no more! We’ve been inspired by the National Month of Hope, first observed in 1991 to help spread hope around the world, spring is all about celebrating the power of hope. With the little buds starting to bloom and green sprouts peeking through the grass, there is no better time to find ways to reach out to those who need a ray of sunshine in their lives. Help us make a difference and spread hope with this two month offer!

The residents at this hospital have no family to care for them and on a regular basis me and a group of friends make and provide cards for the residents. They really look forward to receiving these cards. It lets them know that there are people that care about them! The challenge: I challenge my readers to purchase a kit or two and complete the cards and send them out to someone who needs a little hope or donate the kit(s). The kits do not include stamping blocks, so you’ll need a block if you’re donating the kit. Together we can spread love and hope to others!

Sunflower Congratulations Card / May Paper Pumpkin Surprise!

Sunflower congratulations card

How cheerful is this sunflower set against a blue sky? This is one of my favorite color combinations – yellow and navy!

This card was easy to make and involves stamping, masking and coloring…easy, easy! I partially stamped the image of the sunflower onto a 3″ x 3″ Post It Note and fussy cut around this partial image. The sunflower mask was used to cover the stamped sunflower images so that leaves could be stamped to give the appearance that the leaves are sitting partially under the sunflowers. Super easy technique that provides great results!

Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends were used to color in a sky around the sunflowers. The edges of the Balmy Blue were purposefully left jagged to provide a more artistic-style frame. The light shade of blue nicely sets off the sunflowers. The card sits on a Daffodil Delight card base with a Night of Navy mat. Black twine and brass butterflies adorn the card front. While I used a congratulations greeting on this card, it would also make a great birthday or thinking of you card!

Wet-on-Wet Watercolor Background for Quiet Meadow Die Cut Flowers / Retiring and Last Chance Products

wet-on-wet watercolor background for quiet meadow die cut flowers

You can create your own background DSP using this wet-on-wet watercolor technique. I provide step by step instructions and each finished watercolor will be unique!

I haven’t picked up a watercolor brush in a while and I get a hankering to paint something, so I thought I’d create a background scene for today’s card. As you can see from the photo above, the colors are very vivid, but you can tone down the color intensity by adding more water to the ink before painting on your watercolor paper.

I used the Meadows dies to cut several flowers and stems and arranged them in a bouquet, added a sentiment and some linen thread and this completes the card. You can access the downloadable pdf project sheet by clicking on the icon below. Would you give this watercolor technique a try? I have to warn you…it’s a little addictive and lots of fun!

Starry Night / Why It’s a Great Time to Join the Stampin’ Up! Team

Starry Night

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend!

Today’s card uses the Waves of Inspiration and Paradise Palms stamp sets, the lovely Waves of the Ocean Designer Series Paper and white embossing powder. This is a fun fold card and really highlights the beautiful DSP. FYI – this DSP is still available so grab it before May 2nd it you want it.

This card is my take on the ocean at night. The ocean already seems mysterious to me but at night, especially so! I love watching the moonlight highlight the white tops of waves.

This card required only stamping of the images on the square Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana panels, the heat setting the embossing powder. The DSP panels were glued into place, then I adhered the square front panel to the left edge of the card front to complete the card. A sentiment label was added and a spattering of Rhinestone Basic Jewels for the “stars” in the sky completes the card. A piece of coordinating DSP was added to the envelope flap.

Friday Fun Day! Woven Easter Basket & Chick

Happy Friday!

I wanted to try something different and here it is! I started with a rectangle of scrap cardstock for the basket base and cut 1/2″ strips from various cardstock scraps and wove a little Easter basket. While this project was a little fussy to put together…it was a whole lot of FUN, too!

The woven Easter basket is adorned with a cute little chick, grass and flowers and finished off with a ribbon handle. The basket sits on an embossed panel and scalloped circle. The cute chick image also adorns the envelope and inside of the card.

Wildflower Path Book Fold Thank You Card / Retiring and Last Chance Products

wildflower path book fold thank you card

This card uses the Wildflower Path stamp set along with a pattern from the Flowering Fields DSP presented in a simple book fold.  This card uses only one ink color – Tuxedo Black Memento – and the matting really sets the design for this card.  I also love the sentiment on the front of the card…”My heart is smiling because of you.”

While I chose a piece of the Flowering Fields DSP, the New Horizons paper would also work really well for this card! A simple color scheme of blues, greens and white set the tone for this card and the matting helps to set off the center, stamped panel.

Joy Fold Card using the artfully layered bundle

The Joy Fold card is really easy to put together and lets you show off your beautiful designer series paper. Today’s card uses the Artfully Layered bundle and the Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper.

The large card base was cut from Evening Evergreen and the small card base was cut from Pear Pizzazz. The same colors were used to die cut two leaves which decorate the front of the card. Coordinating ribbon and Rhinestone Basic Jewels were used to complete the card. The envelope flap also shows off a coordinating piece of DSP.

This card was so fun and quick to make!

Hand-Penned Petals Thank You Card / April Host Code for Customers

Hand-Penned Petals Thank You Card

I hope you are having a GREAT day! It’s beautiful here in the Mid-Atlantic!

Today’s card was created using the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set and the Hand-Penned 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper…which is gorgeous by the way! I started with a card base in Highland Heather and die cut two white panels using the Stitched So Sweetly die set. Each of these panels was mounted on a black mat and one features the beautiful DSP and the other a stamped and colored flower image. Can you tell I love layering? Can’t help myself…

Both the Hand-Penned DSP and the Stitched So Sweetly dies are retiring. If these are items you think you need in your stash I highly recommend that you order very soon. When the items are sold out they are gone for good. You can find a link to these products at the end of this blog post. As of right the writing of this post they are both still available.

Calming Oceanfront Card / The New Catalog Comes Out in a Month! / Retiring and Last Chance Items

Calming oceanfront card

Today’s card uses the Oceanfront stamp set and features a double embossed frame around the white card panel. I did my best to capture the embossed frame in the photo but wasn’t having a lot of luck. The frame was created by scoring on each of the panel sides at 1/4″ and 1/2″ and nicely sets off this calm ocean scene.

I used a sentiment from the Paradise Palms stamp set as the font is a lot of fun and is stamped on a cloud. The die cut fence panel came from the Horizon dies set.

This card took minimal time to create and would be suitable for male or female. Products used to create this card are included at the bottom of this post. You can download the project sheet for this card by clicking on the icon below.
