Easier than you Think – Using Soft Pastels with the Calming Camelia Stamp Set / NEW! Celebrate Today Magnet Board Kit (with video)

Easier than you Think – Using Soft Pastels with the Calming Camelia Stamp Set

Today’s card features the Calming Camellia stamp set and Stampin’ Up! Soft Pastels. The Soft Pastels are more like chalks rather than pastels so they are very easy to work with.

I used the spatula on my Pick Your Tool to scrape some of the pastels onto a scrap piece of paper. I then used a Blender Pen to pick up some of the pastels to color in the large flower image from the Calming Camellia set. I blended some of the Night of Navy pastel using the tip of my finger to represent sky on the stamped image – and did the same for the inside card panel.

If you’d like to claim the Calming Camellia Stamp Set for your very own time is running out! Host a party of $300 (in personal sales or party sales) before February 28, 2022 and you will receive the Calming Camellia Stamp Set as a hostess gift…plus by purchasing products from the current catalogs you and your party guests can earn FREE Sale-A-Bration products. 2. This is absolutely lovely, Carol! I love the colors you chose too. Did you have to seal the pastel painting after it dried? I have never done this technique – but I went so far as to buy the pastels to do it…and then I got distracted by shiny things. Your post, though, will get me back to that! Thanks so much!

    1. Thank you, Susan! I did not seal the pastels. Using the Blender Pen with them takes the “chalkiness” out of the pastels so nothing to smear. For the blue background, the color was sufficiently rubbed into the cardstock, but I did go over that section with a dry paper towel but there was no noticeable shedding of color. I want to play with the pastels some more…there is a marbling technique you can do and I’m wondering if the pastel powder could be mixed with water and used like a paint? I need to play some more! Have a great day and thanks so much for your comments!
